Why Kim Possible Star Changed Her Name Because of Famous Singer

Hey, what's up guys? We're hanging out in the Young Hollywood studio with Sierra Riley Wilson.

Hi.

So, is Riley your middle name?

Recently, I um took on the middle name Riley because funny story, actually, um the singer, the R&B singer, Ciara, just married Russell Wilson. And so we have exactly the same name, like spelled exactly the same way, cuz I spell it with a C. And so with Googling me and everything, it was kind of just all her, so I decided to add Riley into it. And Riley's actually the name of my brother who I um really admire, and we're really close, and so he let me he I had his approval.

Oh, my gosh. Oh, I'm so excited to talk to you. I just love meeting any Disney stars, you know. If you're in a Disney movie, I love that cuz isn't that every kid's dream to like get into their Disney movie someday?

Yes. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it is. For real. Yes.

So, how did you you got into acting cuz you were a dancer first, right? Okay.

Yes. Yes, I was. I grew up in Portland, Oregon and I did competition dance there my whole life. And I did an acting camp in LA when I was around 11 and then got an agent from that and then started coming out to LA more and more and then kind of got more into the industry here and transitioned into full-time acting. Yeah.

What do you do for fun when you're not dancing and you're not acting?

If I wasn't an actress, I'd want to be a magician. And I'm like really into magic and I've been to the Magic Castle, which is incredible if you've never been to the Magic Castle.

Really? I've been to the Magic Castle.

Yeah, I've heard that's awesome. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's incredible. And um sometimes I incorporate it into auditions like I have a couple tricks up my sleeve like no pun intended. You can do your act at audition. Just don't may whip out a few cards for you. Just like if I wasn't so busy with dancing and acting, I'd probably go like super into magic. Yeah.

Oh, my God, that's I wish we had brought some like stuff you can do a trick. Yeah. That would have been fun. So so congrats on this new movie, Kim Possible. I remember watching this as a kid.

Thank you. Yes, me too. Oh my gosh. Kim Possible is iconic. I love this. Literally iconic.

I also I read I read so you watched Kim Possible and then I read somewhere that you also watched Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana.

Yes. Oh, yeah. I watched those too. For sure. For sure. The faves.

Have you met Miley or Selena yet?

I haven't but like fingers crossed. Disney family is so amazing and they take care of their kids and everything and and they go amazing places and Yeah. I know Christy Carlson Romano, who plays the voice of the original Kim Possible, actually has a cameo in our movie. And she's kind of like a Disney legend and so getting to work with her and getting to talk to her was incredible because she is so well versed in the industry and how she grew up on Disney Channel was kind of awesome to look up to her. Yeah. anyway.

Well, now you're a Disney legend, right? Because you're in this new movie, which is so exciting.

Yeah. It's incredible.

What can you tell us about your character? Athena, right?

Yes. So I play Athena in Kim Possible. She's a new character who actually wasn't in the cartoon series. Right. And she is a new girl at Kim's school and she kind of uh gets taken under Kim and Ron's wing and becomes a part of Team Possible. And it's actually funny cuz she's also the ultimate fan of Kim Possible. So she's fan girling kind of the whole time that she gets to go on missions with them and have a good time and it's it's the movie's kind of about the friendship between Athena and Kim and Ron and how that blossoms and the lessons they learn from that.

Oh, that's fun. Didn't you learn a lot of cool stunts? I did. You did, right?

Yes, I did. We Sadie and I actually flew out to Vancouver, Canada, where we filmed a month before we actually started filming primarily for stunt training. Yeah. So we did a lot of rigorous training. We did hand-to-hand combat, we did bo staff work, we did uh harness work. We had custom-made harnesses with these pulleys. It was it was a lot. It was very intense.

Oh, my gosh. I read correct me if I'm wrong, that your favorite was the bo staff.

Yes. Yes, it was.

Why is that? Just cuz you could twirl the big staff?

Oh, because Athena's specialty is the bo staff in the movie. So I kind of got to primarily focus on that. And it was just really fun to learn because I I actually bought a Swiffer Duster and took the head off and practiced in my hotel room. So it was like really easy and fun to practice a lot. With the good, what's what's the commercial do That's a good one.

Okay, you can't teach me anything with the bo staff because we don't have a bo staff here, but is there any stunt you could teach me? I don't know, it's probably take too long, right?

Yeah. Well, I mean, well something interesting that I learned, which I don't I don't know if it's interesting to you, but the the correct actual like fighting pose put the fists up here cuz I thought you know like you you hit it and you don't really like know where to go. And you you actually have to put your fist like near your mouth for protection. And it it has to um be straight like this and then the other one kind of protect the teeth. Yeah. Exactly like that. And you think it's more like out there like And you come forward with this one first or like just Yeah. And you always have to kind of go outwards to get momentum instead of just right in.

Yeah. I would look like such an idiot like It's a whole body thing. What? Just do. No, that looks It's a whole body thing. Nobody ever told me to do that. Oh. That's amazing. Yeah, throw your body into it. It's like a whole body thing. That's so cool.

Yeah. It was awesome. And what's also cool is that there were only female stunt doubles and female in this in the stunt coordinating team. So it was like a huge girl power film.
