Baby Ariel Teases Her Book & Nickelodeon Movie with Jace Norman

It's going great. How are you?

I'm great because you're hanging out here and I'm so excited to have you.

So excited. Thank you for having me. Um, I have to tell you, the teddy bear that's on your sweatshirt is the exact teddy bear that I grew up with and that I literally slept with every night until I like until recently.

You know what? That makes me so happy. It's so cute. And my bear's nose was worn away like right there. The same exact bear. This is your What was his name?

Teddy.

This Okay. This is Teddy. I love that. Thank you. It's great to have you and I was going back and looking at an interview that we did with you at VidCon.

I've been journaling almost every day. It's been a lot of fun. So, actually, it's funny because a year ago, I tweeted, "Guys, I'm going to journal almost every day and let's see if I can make it into a book." For me, two years ago, that was like the biggest dream. I was like, "Okay, one day, I don't care when, I want to put all my journals together and create a book." And it's weird that it just really happened. Really? Yeah.

You did it. Oh my god, it's so cool. Well, congratulations.

What's been your favorite part about seeing fan's reactions to the book, Dreaming Out Loud?

I want to say when they talk about how much they can relate to certain stories, whatever it is. Like, if it's my happy stories with friends or my sad breakup stories or my stories about social media and cyberbullying, like to see them relate to it and say, "Oh my goodness, thank you. Arriana for sharing your story because I've been through something like that." And I didn't know if anybody understood, but it's nice to know that you understand. So like, that really makes me happy.

Since you mentioned the anti-bullying campaign, I'd love to talk about that a little bit.

Yeah, for sure.

What is your latest and greatest key piece of advice for fans that are maybe struggling with bullying?

You have to just remind yourself of how amazing you are. Surround yourself with people who love you for you and who make you feel good. Do things that you love. It's okay to put your phone down and disconnect from the world and go outside with your best friend or your dog or your family or whoever. Or go ride a bike. Go get an ice cream.

Go get an ice cream.

Just, you know, be with the people who love you, be with yourself and don't listen to those people because they're not Everything they say is not true and hurt people, hurt people.

That's great. I think everybody needs to hear that. So thank you for sharing.

Well, you're doing a million things, girl. I don't know how you're doing everything that you're doing, but let's talk about music.

Yes.

Because you have some new music videos out.

Yes. Oh my goodness. Arriana. Gucci on my body. Oh my god.

Oh, tell me about the creative process of doing a music video because we obviously, you know, see you on YouTube all the time, but creatively, a music video's different.

You know, when you're on YouTube and Instagram, I get so used to having control over everything. But now we're filming something where there's a director and I had to trust them, you know, and be like, "Okay, like this is the vision, this is what we want to do." And I trusted them and everything, I think, turned out amazing. Such a process. Thank you. Yeah, I mean, 8 Letters was a really, really cool one because we didn't release it on iTunes or Spotify. It was really my own, you know, kind of personal project. It's a music it's a song all about love. And I just really wanted to interview my family and talk about their love stories and share that with the world.

We saw you get your start on Musical. ly. Was it Musical. ly that like inspired you to go off and start writing your own music or was it something else that really inspired you?

Yeah, Musical. ly happened and it's how this whole world started and I am so absolutely thankful for it. But I've been writing all this time, so after Musical. ly, I wanted to not after Musical. ly. It kind of gave you like a platform.

Exact that's what it is.

It gave me like just a platform to continue doing what I love and show different sides of me to the world, you know. Because before it was just Musical. ly and Instagram and now I'm able to share my music and my acting and my journals and all that.

Everything. Yeah, it's really cool. And and speaking of acting, I saw the announcement with Nickelodeon, the TV movie you're doing with Jace.

I'm so excited. Jace Norman.

Jace. I watched the interview with you guys. Oh, before. Oh, that's so fun. Yeah, Jace is great. Have you guys started filming? Are you working on it?

Yes. We finished filming.

You're done filming.

Yes. It's done. We filmed um, all of August. The director was amazing. Jace was amazing. The crew was just amazing. And the story we're telling, I think, is so funny and fun and it's a family story. It's great. I'm just so excited.
