What's up, Young Hollywood? We are here with the lovely Cozy Soul Store. How are you today?

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

I'm doing fabulously.

Young Hollywood

You are. Yeah. Well, we are very excited because you are the star of the latest installment of the Freaky Friday world we have going on there. Yeah. How do you feel about reprising this amazing role?

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

You know, I feel excited because first of all, I feel like every generation deserves their own Freaky Friday.

Young Hollywood

Iconic movie.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

I know, but also

Young Hollywood

Iconic movie.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Yeah, and this one's really fresh because it is a musical and that element is really cool and it was originally developed as a theatrical production and the music was meant for Broadway. Now that it's pulled onto the screen, it has a different feeling from other D-coms that you've seen. And I think it has to be different, otherwise people go, why are you remaking Freaky Friday? It's already perfect.

Young Hollywood

Yes. Exactly. Right. We have to, you know, add a new element to it.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Yeah, and not try to be better, just try to be different.

Young Hollywood

Did you write a co-write a song on this movie?

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Yeah, the song that opens the movie is amazing.

Young Hollywood

Did they reach out to you about that?

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

I mean, I've been a songwriter for a long time so I write a lot of my own music but I've also featured on a lot of uh popular EDM tracks.

Young Hollywood

Amazing.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Which is funny when you look at me you go, really? But it's true.

Young Hollywood

We love that. We love a good EDM track.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Yeah, hey. Shout out to Vice Tone. Since I had that experience and I love writing so much, uh when I booked it I started pitching them a lot of my music. And so the opportunity to write the opening song didn't come 'til a couple months after we wrapped. And it was a huge surprise and they said, hi, we want a song that kind of feels like Paramore meets the Go-Gos or the Bangles and like

Young Hollywood

Oh, that's amazing.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

I know, what a fun prompt.

Young Hollywood

Exactly.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

And it's funny writing for a Disney movie because the parameters are very specific. We want a song that's angsty and rocker but also has a positive message. The hook needs to come at the beginning of the chorus. Like there's very It was like writing an essay like with a prompt kind of.

Young Hollywood

Right. Family-friendly.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Yeah, it's crazy. It's exciting.

Young Hollywood

You play two different characters and your co-star plays two different characters. So that is probably a very interesting process. How do you prepare for something like this? You don't have complete control. You are sharing with somebody else.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

And I mean, I love Heidi so much. We had a lot of fun not only figuring out who the characters were, but literally stealing mannerisms from each other to create those characters. And like, I mean, I found out we were screen testing together probably a few days before it happened and just stocked her hard core on YouTube and figured out how she moves her hands and different things that she does a lot and so, uh, namely those things. And, uh, so even when we went into the screen test, I found out she did the same thing. And so it kind of felt magical in the room and we kind of felt like we were going to book it but we both didn't find out until the very last day of our test deal, which was three weeks later in the afternoon of the last day.

Young Hollywood

When you were preparing for this role, I'm sure you watched all of the other versions of Freaky Friday. Did you have a favorite or did you not watch them because you didn't want to? There you go. You didn't want to.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

So, I have seen the Jody Foster version, which is the first one, uh, growing up. But I had never somehow I had never seen the Lindsay version.

Young Hollywood

Really?

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Yeah, I know. I don't know how I managed to live that long.

Young Hollywood

Speaking of soundtrack, that one. Check it out. That was a good.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

I know, people ask if we if we repeated the songs but no, because you can't get better than them. You have to do different.

Young Hollywood

Right. You gotta change it up.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Yes. Exactly. But uh, yeah, I had not seen it and so when I got the audition the last thing that I would want to do is watch it and get influenced.

Young Hollywood

For sure. Yeah. Would you say that there is somebody that you would be happy to switch places with for a day or for a week?

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Totally. Totally. I can give you like three. I mean, like Lin Manuel Miranda because he's so amazingly talented and I'd want to just get inside his brain. Uh, and Teo Leoni from Madame Secretary. She's my favorite actress. I think she's so smart. She's got such a raw sensibility to her and she's very funny but it's all in a like she kind of reinvents the strong female lead in a way that's very her and I I love that she doesn't go changing to pleasing. Right. And then also Spider-Man. I mean, who doesn't want to like

Young Hollywood

Amazing. That's true.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Just like jump from building to building.

Young Hollywood

Spider-Woman. Spider Lady. We need the Spider Lady.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Spider Lady. Where is she? Oh, she's she's right here. She's right here. I would love that.

Young Hollywood

Well, if they ever make a Spider Lady, I hope that they put you in that role.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Oh, heck yes. That would be amazing. I think they have to now because I came up with it. So I think so.

Young Hollywood

I think that we're putting this into the universe right now. We're manifesting Spider Lady. I'm pretty sure. Well, thank you so much for joining us today. We're really excited to check it out.

Cozi Zuehlsdorff

Thank you so much. You're welcome.

Young Hollywood

Thank you guys for watching.
