Andi Mack's Asher Angel Teases His New Music

And I think the theater that you first performed at is literally like two streets from my house.

Really? Yeah, was it That's the stage theater. Yeah. I love that so much. It's so cool.

Thank you. Well, tell me a little bit about moving from Arizona to Utah, I believe, for Andy Mac, because that's I mean that's a big change.

Definitely. I mean, the options were Toronto, Toronto, L. A. , Utah. Okay. And I thought they everybody thought they were going to Toronto but they went but Utah. They went to Utah. They went to Utah, which was actually really really cool, um for my family because we have a house up there. Oh, perfect. We've been going up there for I don't know, my whole life, just skiing. So that was that was really fun.

What about behind the scenes of Andy Mac? What's the most unexpected thing that happens? Cuz I feel like you guys are a fun group. I feel like there's some like some mischief that goes on behind the scenes.

Yeah, I mean, definitely. We're all we're all super super close. You know, I mean, Josh is like my brother and Peyton and Sophia are like my sister. So, I mean, we tell each other everything and, you know, behind the scenes, you know, between takes like we scare each other, you know, we'll just

I've seen a little bit of that on Instagram.

Yeah, Josh posted a scare cam, I think like season one.

I love that. Do you get in a little study a little study time as well?

Yeah, definitely. We do school on set, which is really fun because we all get to do it together.

Oh, that's nice. You have like your own portable classroom.

Yes, with your castmates. So Sophia and I are on the same online program and Peyton and and Josh are.

That's great. I don't know how you balance it all because, I mean, YouTube, music, T. V. shows, movies now. I mean, how how do you do it?

You know, it's just it's really my parents, you know, they they keep me grounded. I've been wanting to do this my entire life. And now that I'm able to do it, it's just it's just a blessing. So, Yeah.

So let's talk about music because I know you love music. Yeah. If you could only choose music or acting, which would you choose?

People ask me this all the time. You know, it moves it moves around. I think at the moment though, I love them I love them just both so much. I can't even imagine having to choose. So right now, my answer is going to be I love them both so much. It's a tie.

It's a tie. And you've teased that you have new music coming out.

Yep.

Can you tell us a little bit about it?

Yeah, I was I was in the recording studio two days. I'm actually recording another song later today.

And later today?

Later today, yeah.

So you're literally going from here to record a song.

To record a song.

Can you tell us the name?

You know, it's called no, I can't.

Oh, it's so close. Oh. We'll have to We'll have to stay tuned on that one.

And on top of music and everything else you're doing, you've also I think just wrapped filming for Shazam.

We did. Yeah.

So, does that make you officially a superhero?

Yeah. I guess so.

We just We have a superhero in studio, guys. Woo! Shazam! Tell us about any advice maybe you got on set or something that you learned because I'm sure a movie, filming a movie is a little bit different than a T. V. show. Yeah. A different type of project. What was your takeaway?

I I walked in there the first day. I was like, "Whoa, what what?" Just like they had these huge cranes. It was just it was incredible. And I think really I learned a lot from Zach, like cuz he plays my alter ego. So he's a really really cool guy. I feel like he's like, you know, he's like my older brother, you know, he's like goofy. I feel like he's really a kid inside. You know, he's a kid and he's an adult, so it really works. And I just love, you know, just watching and just learning from him.

Did you have to do like some superhero training? Maybe. What did it entail preparing for Shazam?

I mean, it definitely was it I knew it was going to be a lot of work coming into it. I was like, "Mom and Dad, I got to do this. I got to I got to get into the zone of Billy Batson, you know, immediately when I got the role, I went to the comic book store with my parents. I'm just super excited for everybody to see this project and I think it's really something special. And it's just like a superhero movie that meets Big. You know, it's it's just really cool. Everyone's going to love it. I already know that.
