Alexander Gould

Hey Young Hollywood, it's Alexander Gould on the set of my show Weeds. Just got my makeup done. Going to shoot a scene today. So, let's go. So, we're on the set. This is the part of the set. We're we're in Tijuana here. My dressing room's in Tijuana, so it's it's pretty fun.

Young Hollywood

Hey Young Hollywood, it's Michelle Mari here on the set of Weeds with Alexander Gold who plays Shane Botwin, the youngest sibling. You have a very memorable character. You play like the one that doesn't really fit in with the rest. Who's the king of the school, the most popular, most athletic.

Alexander Gould

Hey, I'm Dan. Don't with me.

Young Hollywood

So, how do you like to describe Shane yourself?

Alexander Gould

Definitely, he's kind of doesn't fit in. He's definitely very intelligent, but he's knows what he wants.

Young Hollywood

So, a lot of the young ones really relate to your character because obviously in school, you know, there's some that just don't fit in, some that are kind of like the odd balls and they get bullied, you know? Things like that. What could you say to some of the young kids on how to deal with that in school and what they could do to prevent it?

Alexander Gould

Always be yourself, run in circles that you fit into and don't let peer pressure push you into being something that you're not. Also, get help from adults and stuff if you're in that situation, and make sure that you're not letting people push you around.

Young Hollywood

Are there any struggles that you have to overcome to really, you know, get into the character because it's a very intense one that you have to play.

Alexander Gould

There'll be times when I'll do this really intense scene where I'm having to say a bunch of stuff and almost crying or something and then I'll come off singing a song. I think it's always just come that's what to me to separate myself from that. I definitely at when I'm not doing the character, I just have a fun time on set. I have a skateboard that I ride around and I know I saw it over there.

Young Hollywood

What kind of things do you love to do on your off time?

Alexander Gould

Um, I like to sword fight. I took a stage combat class. Oh, it's so fun. So, yeah, like snowboards.

Young Hollywood

How many times have you fallen on a snowboard?

Alexander Gould

Oh, a lot. Too many times to count. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

But no broken bones. You're still good. You look good.

Alexander Gould

No, I I sprained my tailbone once. But.

Young Hollywood

Wow. Now, you're also very close with Nancy, your mother on the show, who is Mary-Louise Parker. Now, on set, how is your relationship with Mary?

Alexander Gould

She's nice. She's great. We've had some good times. We have this ongoing joke about the song at the end of every episode. It's always like this weird eclectic song. So it's always like, what the heck are we going to do? Like, it's funny. Honey, why are you hiding Sammy Davis' autobiography behind your back? I found it shocking. He was protecting me.

Young Hollywood

Okay. Your character has won three Young Artist Awards for Weeds. Now, how has this actually helped you as an actor?

Alexander Gould

It's it's just a good like motivation. Like you're doing a great job. Keep doing what you're doing.

Young Hollywood

So, you're definitely seen everywhere and you have an incredible amount of fans, especially, you know, the show is just one of those shows that everybody just goes crazy for. Have you had any crazy fan experiences?

Alexander Gould

I was chased down in New York with a guy on a Segway. We were walking down the street and he followed me like three blocks and I was snowboarding last year in Canada and and a guy came up to me in the lodge and was like, are you the guy from Weeds? I'm like, I didn't even know they showed the show in Canada. It's great to meet fans and see that it's not just like, oh, it's just some show. It's like a really popular show and it's it's fun.
