Munchies & Snapchat on the Set of "Mary + Jane”

What's up, young Hollywood? It is Drew Gallagher, and we are here on lot with a new MTV scripted series, Mary and Jane. They got us for a set visit, so let's go check it out. We are here on set of Mary and Jane. What up, ladies? What's up?

Nothing.

So today's actually International Donut Day, so I brought this while they give us a little set visit. Let's all take a little piece of this. Gotta have some munchies, huh? Jessica, your room is first.

My room is first. Take us there. Come on in. This is my beautiful room, which is pretty much anthropology meets an amazing Pinterest board. Done wonderful things included real pictures of us as children.

Oh my gosh, they're so cute.

I know. I love the little bangs. It's amazing. They've built this entire house in here. It was modeled off of the apartment that we shot the pilot in. This is our kitchen / living space.

Whoa.

Right? So cool.

Where are we looking out of? Where is this set?

Silver Lake. Hipster. This is very east side. But it's really amazing because I think a lot of people will be able to relate to the show because it's two girls trying to make it on their own living in L. A. on the east side trying to get into the trendy places. Sometimes get in, sometimes not. All of the crazy characters that they meet along the way.

No one's seen the show yet. They don't really know what it's about. What is it about?

So the show is about Jordan and Paige, who are two ganja-preneurs on the east side who run a mostly legal marijuana delivery service. And the show is pretty relationship driven. So um every episode kind of lends itself to its own adventure, and we kind of jump genres and kind of go wherever it takes us. We've been really, really lucky because not only do we have Deb and Harry who are incredible creators and writers and directors, but we have an incredible writing staff um very female based and amazing, amazing actors all the way around, incredible guest stars, and we've really been able to kind of delve into how ridiculous and funny yet grounded and heartfelt the lives of these characters can be.

When they cast the two of us, we were pretty stoked because this show's hardcore comedy, but it's nice to have like Jess comes from a much more straight-up acting world. So the show has a lot more heart than you'd expect from kind of a crazy stoner comedy. But because it is a silly crazy stoner comedy, like anything can happen.

Can we just look at some of the props around here? I mean, come on, this is this is literally the dankest set I've ever been on.

I don't think we knew what to expect. I don't think audiences will know what to expect. There's embarrassing photos of us. Sixth grade Scout. Oh, killing it, Scout. How cool was I? Your little trophy. What is that trophy from?

Swim team.

Ah, she's a swimmer, is she? What?

I mean, no, she was. I don't know. I can swim very well. And then this is my room. Where the magic happens.

Whoa. Did they give you a comfortable bed?

Bed's medium. I'm not gonna lie about that. I would say it's average, but I've slept on worse. It's medium. And then we're actually, I don't know if you can tell, but we're on the second floor.

Oh, wow.

We've done some tricky shooting tricks to make it look like a second floor.

What an awesome place. This is probably the coolest set visit we've done yet.

I agree. We'll take it. I love it.

What up, what up?

This is like your first big time job, huh?

Yeah. Up until this point, I mostly done indie films. And then I actually shot La La Land with Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.

Gosling. I mean, I got a man crush on Gosling.

I mean, I have a man crush and a lady crush and all of the crushes. So I shot that right before this job happened. Actually, I was in South Dakota shooting an indie when they wanted me to come back and test, and I couldn't. I was lucky enough that they waited for me to come back, and Scout and I chemistry read, and it was love at first sight.

I mean, you guys really are like sisters. When I met you it's amazing.

We really are. Um, I learned so much from her every single day. She's so funny and full of life and joy. I learn so much about comedic timing from her and what punch-ups are and like how to write jokes, and we keep each other grounded, so it's really nice.

Okay, so outside of all this wonderful work and sweating our butts off all day.
