Of course. In your home. But not for much longer, right? Yeah. We're sitting here with Janel who plays Mona on Pretty Little Liars. Hey, Janel. How are you?

You guys are heading into the second part of season 7 of Pretty Little Liars. Yes. Is it bittersweet? Like mostly mostly bitter. Like how are you feeling?

It's very bittersweet. It's it's very bittersweet. That's that's all I can say.

What's the energy on set the last few episodes you guys are shooting?

It's still really good. I think, you know, we're all just super excited to be here and finish up, you know, seven years of working together. I think by the time it hits the last episode, um it's going to be really difficult. But I think for the most part we're all trying to be like Yeah. Super. I think we all just are, you know, here, you know, to go with a bang and we're all just sort of probably like more appreciative, I would say, than ever and just sort of embracing embracing everything. Honestly, I haven't it hasn't sunk in yet. I'm going to be crying the last day. I don't know how I'm going to get through any of my lines.

Yeah. So sad. Shay was like, they should just do like a silent film and just have it really dramatic and everyone crying all the time.

We honestly, I think I think that we've asked the producers like, can we just have our last day just be action shots of us running or something? Cuz we're not going to be able to say anything.

Do you ever read the scripts and you're like, "Oh my God, just when you think that they can't think of something else."

Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Something else happens. Trust me. You guys don't even know what is to come. No.

Do you guys feel the same way?

It's crazy. I don't know how they come up with this stuff. It's so confusing.

Yeah. When we go into table reads now, I'm just like, "How are you? What? What?" Like the evolution of Mona is insane. So I think she's definitely been the most changeable character out of maybe all of them because she's gone through so many phases and the dark side. Then she's been good. Then she's been dark again. And I think that's kind of what makes her fun though is the whole like what is her real motive?

Seriously, I don't think that this show could have any more reveals. And just when you think it can't. You better hold on, lady. It does. It's crazy. But I'm sure long hours are fun because you guys are all kind of friends on set and right? Doesn't affect your work.

The long hours are fun until it gets like super long and then you're like, "Oh my God, I'm nodding off." We were on set together until 3:30 in the morning the other day.

Do you remember your first day on set?

I do. I remember my first day was actually when we shot the pilot. And I was with Arya and we were walking up to the school. It's like the first time I'd seen her. And I was so nervous but so excited. And it's crazy cuz you look back and you're realizing you had no idea how long the show was going to go on for. I did carry Tamlin so uh through a burning building. And and what's funny is like that was I don't know, 8 hours of shooting and it was like not even half of a second of just like I running by and there's glass breaking and there's fire and I think it was like 3:00 in the morning and there's fire trucks and everything. I'm running and it was just a flashback in an episode 2 or something.

How's it going, Ian?

It's going great. Going real swell.

Do you ever look back on those days, those early days and just think about how far you guys have come?

Yeah, yeah. I think about, you know, um we've definitely gotten to such a groove with scenes and everything. Like you almost you you feel very present in the moment. Everything else that you're doing.

What's been the most shocking moment that you've that you've encountered on the show so far your character? As Mary?

Mhm. Um most shocking as as Mary. Uh well, just being Mary was a shocker. Honestly that was shocking. It was so fun to be Jessica. She was so specific and and unique and inimitable and then to be killed off was awesome. I'm so excited. And then to come back in flashbacks was a thrill and then wait a minute. We I'm Mary who? What?

You guys have done pretty much everything on the show so.

Yeah. Like I Yeah. I mean. You know, having a love scene with like a a yeti. You know. Would be great. You never know. You never know. You never know what happens in Rosewood. Doesn't happen anywhere else.

Um we're going to do two truths and a lie. Okay. And this these are about your co-stars. So this one's about Ashley. You better get this one right cuz you guys are like besties, right? All right. She loves Harry Potter. She's naturally a brunette. Or she used to be a competitive dancer.

Oh my gosh. She loves Harry Potter. No, she does love Harry Potter. No, she doesn't. I'm naturally a brunette, but also I'm not really in love with Harry Potter either.

Okay. So Shay was right. Okay. Is that what she said? Yeah. Well, where on the street is that you love Harry Potter? For Ian, three facts. He's terrified of birds. He wrote a book. Or he's a huge Taylor Swift fan. What's what's uh what's the lie?

Yeah, which one's the lie? He's terrified of birds. He wrote a book or he's a huge Swifty. Taylor Swift. I think he's he's afraid of birds. Yeah. That's a lie. That's a lie. Ha.

Okay. So three facts about Shay. She A, originally went out for the role of Spencer. B, she's obsessed with pizza or C, she hates spicy food.

Hate spicy food. All right. There you go. She does. Oh that's the lie. Yeah that's the lie. Yeah. Okay, yeah. That's a lie. Okay, yeah. I know right? What? She loves spicy food. Yeah. So funny. I do. So spicy. Yeah. She puts Sriracha on everything and then like the hot the hottest hot sauce ever. She doesn't hate spicy food. All right. So there you go. She seems like um always putting more as she could she like eats all of them. Yeah. Amazing.

What message do you have to your fans? Because you're so positive and even on your social media and stuff and you have so many young girls that look up to you. I guess, you know, in your position you have such a great platform to use your voice. What message do you hope to share with your fans?

Well, first, I mean, the fans I want to say thank you so much for, you know, supporting us throughout all these years. Truly, it's the only reason why we're here. You know, you can have everything else, but if you don't have the fans to watch the show, you're not going to be on the air. So I am saying thank you so much for giving me this experience.
