Celebrating Opening Day at Dodgers Stadium

What's up, guys? Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood. Baseball is back and I am back at Dodger Stadium. It is the season opener against the San Diego Padres and I am bringing you all the action. Opening Day never gets old, does it?

Oh, it's a lot of fun. There's a lot of excitement. I think fans are excited because it's the start of a new season. Players, there's always nerves and anxiety and that's a good thing because that means you care and uh you always think about, okay, can I just get that first defensive play out of the way? Can I get that first hit out of the way? So I can just focus on the marathon season.

I'm still trying to figure out if I'm more excited about being here to sing or being here for opening day baseball.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming.

Kershaw is one of my favorite pitchers in the league right now, so to see him throw and and just be here and be part of it is is really fun.

Well, it's beautiful. Opening Day is the best day in the in the league. Just waiting for that moment. I'm blessed.

Opening Day, talk about the feeling being on someone else's uh home turf.

Um, still Opening Day. You get goosebumps, you get excitement, you get nerves like any other park. Obviously, it's one of the biggest stadiums in the game, it's a division rival, so it's a little more special, but uh, you know, you go out there and just try and win a baseball game.

Mr. George Lopez, you're the biggest Dodger fan I know and you're here on Opening Day. I love this.

Well, you know, I prefer to drink with 55,000 of my closest friends. So I this is a big day. And I think the team is better than last year and uh it's about time that we throw our own hats into the championship ring. Listen, rumor has it, we're winning uh the National Series, the championship series, and we're going all the way, World Series.

Well, you know, that's all going to happen, but I I'm glad that we get the time to watch it. That we just it's not just assumed, but uh great additions and great team and Dodger blue and parties on the way in and I'll probably stop there on the way out.

Dave, how do you feel that you guys are supposed to possibly win the World Series this season?

You know what? I I I think it's a good feeling and I think that uh the guys in the clubhouse feel the same way. So, you know, it's a long baseball season. I like our talent, I like our depth, and now it's just up to us to go out there and execute.

Rumor has it, we're going all the way.

I think that. I always believe it.

You're from the OC and here you are at Dodger Stadium. You're one of their biggest fans.

I've been a Dodger fan my whole life, so it's so cool to be here.

It's not your first rodeo, using country lingo, but you've been here before doing this.

Yeah, we it was almost a year ago. It was the end of April last year and I got to come out and uh and sing the anthem and that was the first time I had ever sang the anthem. So, um it's cool to be back and have it be Opening Day and and, you know, have family and friends here and what a beautiful day.

Okay, Kershaw starting today. This is some information that I got from under the stadium by a well-to-do high-up in the Dodger organization. When Clayton Kershaw throws his first pitch today, that is officially the start of his 10th season and he is eligible for the Baseball Hall of Fame with one pitch today.

Sort of like in your second grade class when they said, what did you do this summer? What did you do in the off-season before you went to Spring Training?

Uh during when I played?

No, no, this this year. When you guys had off.

Yeah. I just spent time with my family. I mean, it's all about the kids now. So that you know, they get all of my time which is fun. Uh, vacation, I went to Dubai. And so we did a thing with the Dodgers through Emirates and that was a lot of fun. Something that uh I'd never envisioned doing, but uh I loved it over there. Uh went to wine country a couple of times. So, um, love Napa. And outside of that, just kind of laid low and spent time with the family.

Uh, you trying to have fun, you know, still hang out with your friends, golf, you know, enjoy time with family, but then, you know, you get in the weight room for a solid three or four months and you prepare yourself for 162 games.

Now, this season, the Dodger dog is getting a friend. They're introducing the Dodger burger. What are you putting on your Dodger burger, Tommy Lasorda?

What am I putting on my Dodger burger? I I think a little bit of mustard. Uh, I go lettuce, tomatoes, uh, kind of one onion, two onions, just to get a little bit of that. A little bit of ketchup, a little bit of mustard.

Now, are those onions caramelized, just grilled, are you going raw?

Uh I I go raw, but I I'm a big fan of the caramelized, but I I just go raw for the burger and uh if it's cooked medium, perfect.

It's always hard to be the second kid because the first one is always so precious. So the Dodger burger, although you can't think. Let's say you got some big shoes to fill. If you're going to try to fit the the Dodger Dog shoes, the Dodger Burger has some they might have to add like a one of those animal style Dodger burger.

Oh, lettuce, uh, little tomato, some mustard, grilled onions, um, how you like that, right there. Change it up. And if there's bacon, I just kind of add some bacon to it. So if if there's there. And a little avocado. Yeah, avocado is good.

Uh, Dave actually said he wants the onions raw. He didn't even want grilled.

Wow, I I went grilled. So I change it up, you know, spice it up a little bit.

Well, I'm going animal style. I'm going multiple cheese, and we have to see what kind of dressing, you know, if it's the like kind of the mayonnaise and ketchup mix that they use in a lot of the places or you could use like Thousand Island or you use ranch or So but there'll definitely be jalapeños on that thing.

Sleep without you, one of your hits. We both sleep with the same thing. You have a you have a blankie, too?

I have a blankie. I got the childhood blankie in the bed still. It's not going anywhere.

Okay, we just passed April Fool's. Talk about the clubhouse. Who's the biggest jokester, the prankster in that in that clubhouse?

I I think probably Adrian. Adrian Gonzalez, you know, he's kind of a sneaky, closet uh comedian and prankster. So, you know, he kind of looks a little uh on the outside, stoic and and simple, but uh inside the clubhouse, he's the jokester.

You're throwing out the first pitch on Opening Day.

How many how many times I've done that? But I've been with the Dodgers now going on 70 years. I've been to a lot of openers, throwing out a lot of first balls. Just hope the starter all the way through the World Series. I think we got a good team. So, I think we're going to be there.
