Batting Practice with Matt Kemp

Welcome to Young Hollywood. What's up guys? I'm Leslie Robbins for Young Hollywood coming to you from Dodger Stadium where I've got your VIP pass to batting practice with Matt Kemp.

Okay, here we are with number 27, Matt Kemp. We're at batting practice a few hours before the game. Now, besides batting practice tell me some of your pre-game rituals.

Uh, nothing much. Just uh, I listen to a little music while I'm out here on the field getting stretched out and uh stretch, loosen up and uh just get ready for BP then get ready for the game.

So what do you do when you're not playing baseball?

Uh, we don't get too many days off. So uh, usually I'm I'm just around the house maybe watching a movie or I might go to the mall or something that's one of my favorite things is to go to the mall and and look around and and shop a little bit. So I'm I'm I like to I like clothes and shoes. So that's that's my thing.

Where are you hanging out during the offseason? What do you like to do?

Uh I still stay out here and uh I'm I'm back and forth. I go to Oklahoma two or three times in the offseason to visit my family for Christmas and Thanksgiving and and one other time before I report to spring training but most of the time I'm out here and uh just just hanging out in L. A.

So you guys are on the road a lot. Is it tough to find time to spend with your girl?

Well, shoot, my girl is just as busy as I am. So uh she's off doing her touring thing and won't be back for a little while. So I'm I'm just in the hotel chilling and and hanging out with my my teammates and uh just just just letting time pass.

Yeah, I saw a picture of Rihanna in the stands opening day watching you accept your awards. How great was that to have your own personal cheerleader here?

Uh, it was tight. I also hit a home run. So I guess you could say that's one of my one of my good luck charms. I think she's been to two games and I hit home runs in both games. So uh I need to get her to more games.

You're still a young guy. You show promise. You had an incredible season last year. What's next?

Uh, nothing. I'm just going to keep working on my craft. That's just getting getting to be a better baseball player every year. You know, I still got a lot more more work to work to do and a lot more things to accomplish like bringing L. A. a World Series and uh, you know, just just trying to you know, stay on top of my game and and and be the best baseball player I can be.

If you guys are in the World Series, we're coming, okay?

All right. You said it. I I I'll I'll see if you're I'll see if you're here. I'm going to be looking up in the stands to see if you're in 55,000 people here. I'm going to see if I can spot y'all here in the stands.

Remember me? I have one more question. Will you show me how to throw? I'm a girl. Throw?

Throw? I got a ball. I got a ball. Oh, okay. Throw. Uh, you just grip the ball like this. Grip it tight. You're good. Yeah. Come on now. Good. Straight to me. Right hit me in the chest and everything.
