Young Hollywood

Hey, Young Hollywood, I'm Jill Wilderman about to get my very first surfing lesson with one of Australia's hottest surfers, Kobe Aberton.

Kobe Aberton

Bra Boys has become a documentary.

Kobe Aberton

And our lives, you know, we had I was involved with a murder and riots and 300 on 300 versus police and you know, we made the movie for kids.

Kobe Aberton

So if they're going for the same stuff that we're going through, hopefully they they can survive like we did it.

Young Hollywood

Located only 14 km from Sydney Harbour, lies Maroubra beach.

Young Hollywood

Now, how did it come about that Russell Crowe would narrate it?

Kobe Aberton

He heard that we're making a DVD and he asked to have a look at it.

Kobe Aberton

And then we're watching it one day and then I said, "Oh, but the narrator sounds terrible."

Kobe Aberton

And then he's like, "Well, when I do it, it's gonna sound like this."

Kobe Aberton

And he started talking.

Kobe Aberton

We're like, "Whoa!"

Kobe Aberton

Caught him all in there shooting up heroin.

Kobe Aberton

I um said, "Get out of the house."

Kobe Aberton

And my mom's boyfriend jumped up and hit me with um a baseball bat.

Young Hollywood

Tell us what Bra Boys is, what it means.

Young Hollywood

How that got started?

Kobe Aberton

A lot of people around my way, their moms are either heroin addicts or alcoholics.

Kobe Aberton

And there's a whole lot of us.

Kobe Aberton

We made like a crew of guys.

Kobe Aberton

We called the Bra Boys which is short for Maroubra, our beach that we're from.

Kobe Aberton

And a lot of the guys who didn't join our crew are, you know, dead or in jail.

Kobe Aberton

So I feel very blessed that we've done that.

Young Hollywood

You have an interesting tattoo that goes across.

Young Hollywood

Can you tell us about that?

Kobe Aberton

It's kinda another thing within the Bra Boys but it's just something that I believe in.

Kobe Aberton

You know, I I only ever had my brothers in my life and that's who I look out for.

Kobe Aberton

Young Hollywood should should go and see Bra Boys.

Kobe Aberton

It's an insight to a life that you know, without seeing the movie, you'd never believe in it.

Kobe Aberton

Hey, Young Hollywood, this is KB Aberton here.

Kobe Aberton

I'm about to teach Jill how to surf.

Kobe Aberton

Basically, when the wave comes, chin up.

Kobe Aberton

Don't look down cause if you look down, you'll fall down.

Kobe Aberton

Okay, so one, two, three, hands flat and up.

Kobe Aberton

Doing good.

Kobe Aberton

She's just scared to get up.

Kobe Aberton

I think she'll get up this wave.

Young Hollywood

I told you you'd get her up, didn't I?
