Welcome to Young Hollywood.
What's up, guys?
Michelle Murray coming to you from X-Game 16 here with Vitamin Water and Young Hollywood.
I am here with Jeremy Stenburg, aka Twitch.
As you can see we are here by his bike.
This is a pretty dope setup.
I was you got to look good to be good, that's always been my motto so if my stuff's looking tight then I feel tight.
It is.
The first thing I want to know is how did you get your nickname Twitch?
I got my nickname Twitch just from shaking my head and uh uh I got Tourette syndrome, I got diagnosed when I was little and when I started freestyle, that's what everyone called me and it just stuck with me.
Freestyle has become such a huge phenomenon here at X-Games.
How do you feel about the way it's grown and how the spectators are just so drawn to it?
It's cool.
I think it's rad, like especially when all the fans are out here and stuff, like it makes you wanna try harder because they're out there like they're out there busting their butt as hard as you are, you know what I mean?
Like them sitting in the sun just cheering us on all day.
It's cool, I love it.
Tell us what you're gonna be competing in.
Well, I was competing in freestyle today.
I got hurt.
I uh uh dislocated my ankle so I'm taking the rest of the night off and then tomorrow night I'll ride step up, best whip and then on Sunday we'll ride speed and style.
So looking to get at least a couple medals.
So what's your favorite one to race in?
I'd say my favorite one's usually freestyle but I would say for this weekend definitely whip, being a little injured.
I don't have to I don't have to put it on on the body too hard.
Yeah, yeah.
So with an injury how do you recoup after it?
What do you have to do?
Are there a few things that you that essential things that you have to do to get ready?
I always got to go see the chiropractor.
Well, it's depending if you broke a bone or not, for me I'm I got lucky I didn't break one this year so
Uh-huh.
For me, I just get a little bit of rehab on my ankle, just icing it and stretching it and going to the chiropractor, that's about it.
Now the viewers want to know how you prep for for an actual race.
Do you have I mean you obviously have to stay hydrated.
What are the maybe three essential things that you do to get ready?
Ride every day twice a day, drink plenty of water and uh work out with a trainer.
Oh, that's easy.
You gotta keep your body in shape.
Gotta be in shape when you hit the ground.
Exactly.
Now tell us more about your bike.
I'm actually one of the few this year I actually moved up to a Kawasaki 450.
It's uh usually everyone rides a 250 two-stroke and I went to the 450 with a bigger bike because it's always really dry for us so it's a lot easier to go out there on a four-stroke when you have way more power and just be able to jump everything super easy and out here everyone else complaining and I'm out there and jump everything easy.
Exactly.
So it's good.
So I know you're here obviously repping uh Metal Mulisha.
What made you choose Metal Mulisha?
What do you love about it?
I'd say when I first started freestyle, that was just like the image, like those were like the guys I looked up to and that I liked and it just fit my image and it was like more of like the guys that didn't really listen to any of the rules and made their own and That's how I've been my whole life, so.
Yeah.
So it's just that's the lifestyle.
It's stuck with me.
So how do you balance family and your career?
Because this is a very extreme sport, obviously.
It's hard.
As soon as I get in, I'm just hanging out with the wife and the kids and just going swimming, going to dinners, movies, just hanging out and
Right.
Try to give them as much time as possible because if it wasn't for them like I really wouldn't be doing this, you know?
So.
Right.
It's cool.
And last question.
You know the competition is very fierce as you can see there's a lot of really good riders out there.
What do you have to do to conquer it and win a medal?
What are the things you have to do?
I'll just say go out there and be focused and just ready to win and ready for anything, you know what I mean?
If it's windy, you got shadows in the lips like you just have to go out there with a positive attitude and seriously just go for it and put it on the line.
Right.
And what's your ultimate goal?
To win.
Or else I wouldn't be here.
That's the goal.
You gotta win, you gotta get them gold medals and medals and make the sponsors happy, make yourself happy.
A rebel with a positive attitude.
We like that.
All right.
Yeah.
You heard it right there.
What up Young Hollywood hanging here with Jeremy, the Twitch Stenburg, just want to give a shout out to my fans.
Make sure you guys vote for me so I can win, all right?
Peace.
