Inside The X Games With Corey Bohan

Welcome to Young Hollywood. Hey what's up? I'm Corey Bohan. You're hanging out at X Games 17. I'm up here in the athletes staging area and practice for prelims is about to get underway right now behind me here. Ah yeah, this is my eighth X Games showing this year so uh I used to ride a lot of BMX dirt and then they took that discipline out. So, for the last three years, I've been competing here at BMX park, so This year's my third year going at it, so we'll see how we go. The course is looking pretty fun out there and practice is underway. So behind me here, we're up close with the park course and a few of the guys in heat one are out practicing right now.

Um there's a few different features on the course that are like pretty unique. Up here, if you can see, there's like a shark fin and it's got a big wedge on the back side, you know, there's gonna be plenty of tricks jumping out of that thing or jumping up into it. So, that's gonna be a big highlight and you'll see a lot of stuff go down there. And then behind me you've got the the acrylic section right here where a lot of guys use that as a as a berm, you know? They'll come flying around that and it'll line you up for a hip that's in the middle out here. So, it's just a good piece to link up to keep your run flowing. And then out the back, it's kind of hard to see from here.

There's a there's a big table out there. A big and that's like a manual pad where you guys can fly out to manual, link up more tricks, just keep your run flowing. So there's there's plenty of hits out here and you get like a 30-minute window so there's you gotta hit everything. There's gonna be a lot of tricks going down and a lot of stamina. So you gotta remember to breathe out there and just nail those tricks. You know, after winning my first X Games Gold in BMX dirt, that was one of my greatest achievements and then uh to come back the next year and defend it and also win again, backing it up twice, like, never thought that would come true, you know.

And then uh third year later, got another gold and into the history books as the first rider to ever like three-peat in the single event. So, pretty stoked with that and uh good memories from that. You know, over the years, uh BMX has gone through the roof. This is my tenth year in the States competing and hanging out and uh the progression, I'd say over the last five years, has just gone through the roof. We've got the young guys like from all around the world ranging from like 16 years old right through to 32 years old. So, it's got a a bit of everything and just uh BMX is never like a dull moment.

Progression is the name of the game and uh kids out here are gonna show you what it's all about. Um this year coming into X Games, you know, everyone's getting their minds right, getting their tricks dialed in and uh it's all about just being on your bike and practicing and just feeling comfortable coming into the event. So, just plenty of bike time and just uh getting your head straight and come in confident and do your thing. So yeah, that's pretty much it, you know, I'm gonna wrap it up here because I got practice coming up soon for my prelims heat and uh hope you guys liked this little insight to the course and uh be sure to keep an eye out for my heat and uh we'll see how we go.
