Welcome to Young Hollywood.
Hey, Young Hollywood. I'm Sara Burke, professional free skier, and we are just hanging out here at a shoot.
So, we're here today at your shooting, a little photo shoot for Roxy. You kind of have a thing for fashion. You're into fashion?
Yeah, definitely. I love it. I love um, you know, looking at everyone's different style. You see what they come by, and then also magazines and, and, and fashion shows. So, I like it all.
How would you describe kind of your overall mountain style?
I I like to switch it up. I mean, I like to wear something that is comfortable because you're you're flipping around all the place. But, uh I I like to look good when you're on the hill, too.
Some amazing news has recently been announced. Uh 2014 Olympics in Russia. They will have the first ever ski halfpipe event. Um, I mean, how did you feel when you heard the news?
It's amazing. It's something that we've kind of been working towards for a long time and really pushing. And uh we just missed out in Vancouver, which is kind of sad 'cause that's where I'm from, but really, really excited for this.
Are you gonna kind of focus all of your energies on halfpipe and take a step back from slope style like we've seen other athletes do?
Yeah, I think so. I mean, it's it's hard to do both. When I was younger, a young whipper snapper, I could do it. I had more energy and, and more um it wasn't as competitive. So, it's it's really hard to be good at both.
Who out there on the mountain kind of pushes you or inspires you or makes you a a better skier?
Well, I love my team, my my fellow Canadians. We always have a really good time pushing each other and, and, and supporting each other and helping each other out. Um I also love watching the girls. It's it's really cool to see how it's come from being like the only girl with the guys to a whole field of women that are all loving it and, and progressing. The guys are all right, too.
What is on your iPod playlist when you're on the mountain?
Oh, well, it's it's always changing. This summer this winter is liking old school hip hop. So, a lot of Dr. Dre. Yeah. And Run DMC, Busta Rhymes.
I feel like that's the thing on the mountain. Every snowboarder or skier I know, always the hip hop in the iPod. I'm like for me, it's classic rock, but I'm no pro. So, maybe that's the secret.
Maybe.
Hey, Young Hollywood. Sara Burke here. Keep an eye out for me at 2014 Olympics.
