Maddie & Kenzie Ziegler Talk Podcast and Play a Game of Ifs & Whens

You both look really good.

Oh, thank you so much.

So you have Take 20 with Maddie and Kenzie Ziegler out, the podcast. How do you feel about that?

It's been so amazing. We've always wanted to do a podcast and we're so happy that it finally happened just to show a more personal side to us. So yeah.

That's awesome. And you both been in the spotlight for a very long time. So what was it like now like talking and like really voicing what's on your mind?

Yeah, I feel like I'm I'm so glad that we're doing this podcast 'cause we can actually open up about things and um be very vulnerable and it's definitely nerve-wracking. I mean, just being so open and honest to everyone but I feel like we want people to get to know us on a different level because I feel like no one knows our bond, no one knows anything.

Right. So yeah, we we have so much fun.

Yeah. Is there some parts of your life that you've been talking about that a lot of people didn't know about but now you're telling them?

Totally. I I think like it is a weird situation where it's like people think they know everything about us 'cause they've watched us grow up for so many years but there's so much that we've left out and I think we still definitely try and keep a a really like we we try to maintain it. We try to like still keep a lot personal to us because you know when you're in the industry like you try and like some things, yeah. But uh yeah I mean I think like just like seeing just different things that we're going through, relationships, like we're dog moms now like there's so many different things that I think people not necessarily didn't know about us or they just haven't learned about it. So I think like that's that's kind of a fun thing that we've.

And that's nice on your end too because obviously like social media and everything people think they do know everything so you can finally literally tell them what's on your mind.

We can control the situation.

Yeah.

Real quick. And a lot of the comments on like your comments so far have been that you guys have the same voice.

I know.

Do you think you do?

Yeah. Going into it we were kind of nervous about that. Um and so apparent I don't I don't say your name ever in the in podcast but usually Maddie is like, "Okay Kenzie" or you know try and just say my name but it doesn't really help because obviously we sound so similar. That was like our biggest like, oh that's the only thing that's gonna be a little annoying is like trying to differentiate our voices without the face to them.

Right. Yeah. I mean it's not that terrible. I think like OG fans can tell the difference.

Yeah, for sure. 100%.

Do you think you guys have similar voices like you personally?

Oh, definitely. Yeah. Like we obviously it's so easy for us to tell. Like when we listen to our like podcast back we obviously can tell who's talking but like

Yeah. Honestly it's like any other person I could see how it could be very confusing.

Oh, for sure. Yeah. We uh we were talking about this earlier but we used to like prank our friends on the phone and just be like, "Okay, who's talking?" And they would always guess it wrong. So it's like it's actually that that's actually a thing.

Yeah. That's so funny that you would literally prank people and be like, "Who's who?" And how like your prep, how what goes into that? Do you guys text each other and you're like, "Oh let's talk about this today" or do you just like wing it? So like what's the process of making the podcast each episode?

Yeah. We've had we always get ideas as we're going like we'll be like, "Oh next week it would be fun to like talk about this." But uh also we ramble a lot and I think through that we can find other ideas like there's so many times we're doing a podcast episode where we're like, "Okay, we specifically want to get this topic across." And as we're talking about it we like veer off and we're in a different world and we're like, "Oh, we should actually talk about that sometime." So it kinda goes

Yeah.

And when you're in the car do you guys listen to it together? Do you listen back to it or you don't listen to it?

Yeah sometimes when I have a long car ride and I'm like sick of music. Um if you have a new Em and M podcast to listen to I'm like actually I wanna hear like how I was because it was so fun for us but it's weird listening from like an outside perspective. Um so yeah I've listened to like maybe once or twice.

I yeah I listen to the Halloween episode which was pretty cool. I've only like I only listen to part of like approve it, you know, before it gets released but other than that I hate hearing myself talk so I do not listen to it like full time just because I'm like, oh I hate the sound of my voice.

Correct. No, me too.

But I just I like listening to us sometimes.

Yeah. It's always like it's like a song like if you know how like if you're at a concert and you're singing in the background of the Snapchat video or something and you're like, oh my god, stop.

I agree. Exactly. Like one of those things.

That's funny. Is there any one thing that you think that right now you were like, we're not talking about it like you two in between like personally you're like, I just don't wanna talk about it. But then you think you'll eventually one day talk about it or you're a pretty open book?

Yeah. I I think like there's a lot that we used to be like, "We'll never talk about this" and now we're kind of open to it. I think something that we've never really talked about is just like as we grew up our parents went through a divorce and I think that's something that we're we're definitely open to talking about and I'm sure that will be an episode um coming up that we'll record. I just think like it's important to put those out just so that other people who are going through that feel like they can relate or feel like they have someone to kind of like bond with. So yeah.

Of course. Yeah. And that's so nice 'cause your podcast you do make it so like your fans and just random audience people that listen to it too can relate to you guys. Like you seem very relatable which is like a good thing to be. You know. Um okay, so we're gonna play a little game, okay? So it's called so obviously like with your podcasts and your social media a lot of people know a lot about you but this is kind of like future so it's called Ifs and Whens. So I'm gonna give you scenarios. You'll answer for each other. I'll address one of you but it's about the future, what you think would happen. Okay. Okay? So if and when Maddie gets married, Kenzie, what song do you think she will choose to play at her wedding?

Honestly, I think some Stevie Wonder song maybe or a John Mayor song?

Yeah. Those are both great. I love both of those.

You agree? Good with those ones. Unbelievable. High fives. Okay. It's kind of like the sister tag, I guess, but it's like about the future stuff. Okay. If and when Kenzie buys her own house one day, what is the first thing she will buy for it? Maddie.

I feel like you'll buy like a hammock. Like I feel like you're not gonna get something conventional that like actually you need. Like you're not gonna get like a couch. You're gonna get like, "Oh this little area in the backyard could use a hammock." Like I feel like you would do that.

I totally think that. A hammock, I love it.

And that's not even in the house either. That's like completely outside.

Exactly. Like something weird something, blow-up something, bird house or something like

Yeah. Make sure there's a tree, there's a house in the tree.

Exactly.

Okay. When Maddie turns 21, what do you think Kenzie will get her? So I guess Maddie answer. And what would the theme of the party be? So Kenzie what's the theme of Maddie's 21st and Maddie, what do you think that Kenzie would buy you?

Honestly, Maddie hates parties. Maddie hates her birthday. Maddie hates anything that is her the center of attention. Um so I will probably be throwing the surprise party. Yes. Um I'll probably just make everyone wear black and she wears a sparkly dress or something. I don't know, but I think

What do you think? Okay, what you'll get me? Yeah. What's the gift? Surprise if you showed up with like a new dog for me or something.

I totally would. Like I feel like you'd go that length of like doing something big.

Yeah. How's the dog mom life for both of you?

Amazing. Oh my gosh. It's just grand. So good.

There's like a piece of you missing before the dog and you just didn't know it.

100%. Totally.

Or like new people like they have changed our lives.

Yeah.

Okay, one day in the future when both of you say are retired or whatever you wanna say, so like long, long future, where answer for each other where do you think the other one will end up living?

Oh I like that question. I think you will live in Hawaii.

Totally. Okay, this is really hard. I have a very easy answer. California.

There's two answers. New York. That's one.

Paris? No. London? No.

It's so easy. Australia. Yes. Oh. Australia.

Maddie's like I'm gonna go, I'm gonna leave the United States. And you're like I'm gonna be in Hawaii.

I I totally this is that's actually so funny like I talk about this all the time. I wanna live in Hawaii when I'm old.

Hawaii looks insane. I haven't been yet but the picture like no picture's bad. It could be of a rock on the street and you'd be like it's beautiful there. And just like full of life it's amazing. It's so nice.

But do you think that you guys would FaceTime every day? Like what's the vibe if you don't end up in the same place?

See I'm gonna be FaceTiming her every day and she's not gonna answer me. This is what happened last night. Or she called me, I don't know what like twice yesterday and I didn't answer her because first my phone was dead and then second I was driving and so I was like I'll just call her when I get back home and I forgot. And then she called me last night and I answered and she was like, "Oh my gosh, I thought you were dead." And I was just like, "What?" Like, "How did you escalate? Like how did that happen?" When Maddie doesn't answer it's like full chaos in my house. Like my dad's like, "What happened?" My mom was like, "I thought you were dead too." And I was like, guys, I'm good. Parents it's like a whole thing. I was like, "Guys, my phone was dead and then I just was driving and I wasn't on it." So

The whole family's in a frenzy. When Maddie doesn't answer game over. Not good.

I think you're safe if you don't answer me.

No, my mom always knows where I am so like you could just be like where is she.

Yeah that's true. I can't call anyone. Eddie doesn't pick up his phone. There's no way. Oh my gosh. Yeah.

Okay, one day, okay, so answer for each other. Say kids one day down the line. If you had a boy, what would the other sister name their son? Oh. Or girl, whatever you'd wanna do, boy or girl, or both.

I feel like you would have some sort of like really interesting, cute name that's like

Oh, this is hard. I I feel like, okay you know like Lucky Smith, like Lucky Blue Smith. I think you would go in that route. I would have named my kid Blue.

Okay, so exactly. Exactly my point. Okay, I don't know when she was younger it was Stella everything.

Yeah, I love that name.

Every everything is Stella. Also everything is Charlie for some reason but I don't think you would name your kids Stella or Charlie.

Stella or Charlie. Yeah. But that was like I always wanted to name her child uh either Charlie or Stella. Yeah. Yeah. Um but I have no idea what you would name your.

I know. Always something something interesting. Yeah. Something different. Yeah. Pretty like generic names ourselves so I feel like we don't wanna be. Yeah. I have a boy's name.

What?

Yeah there's a lot of boys named McKenzie. There's a lot of boys that go by Maddie so.

Well, I guess it's cool. I love how you I don't I don't think I've ever met a male Maddie or or McKenzie. Like a lot of people a lot of males who are named Matthew, they are nicknamed to Maddie.

Yeah. So cool. So good. Literally so good. I love that.

Are we talking about this again? So we just ramble. It's gonna happen.
