Welcome to YoungHollywood. com. Whoa, what's up Young Hollywood? I'm Michelle Marie here with Travis Barker. Let's talk about your tattoos. How many tattoos do you actually have?
I have enough to cover the front half of my body up to here. And then I have this entire leg open and I have a little piece of my head still open.
What inspired your first one?
I think it was my nickname. I was called Bones 'cause I was so skinny. And all I did was ride a skateboard or ride, you know, play my drums or whatever. So it was Bones and then a memorial for my mother. That was like probably the most important one.
Well, I've heard that you got tattoos because you knew that you were going to make it and you're going to keep going. You're never going to get a corporate job. I mean, look at you now. You got a clothing line, you got your music.
I know, that was nice how you worded it. I got tattoos going like I don't want to do anything else. And I didn't really have like, uh, I didn't really have much to begin with, you know. I had an awesome family or whatever, awesome core to begin with, but I didn't have anything else. I was like, screw it. Like I'll tattoo everybody and I'll kind of force myself into being like, I have to do this. You know.
Kind of like the secret, like you knew what you were gonna do, you kind of just planned it out.
Way before that. Way before that. We all live by it now. They were called job stoppers. My friends and I used to call them. They were like, dude, you have so many job stoppers. Like I couldn't get a tattoo if I wanted to. At the time I was a trashman and I was just making enough money to live.
So crazy. I mean, look how far you've come. I mean, you Blink-182, you guys had so much success. What is it that you hope to do, you know, in the next five years that we're gonna see from you?
I want to continue playing with A. M. I want to, I want to put out my record that I'm putting out. I want to be with my children. And then I want to retire playing jazz.
Let's talk about the family life. I mean, you're at home, you got all these kids. What is it about being a dad that you most love?
They're new and improved versions of you. They're awesome, you know what I mean? And I think it's like they make you feel young and other my best friend. It's awesome.
Now, I know that you have your album coming out, Rap, Punk, there's all this different music that's coming together. What can we see with this new album?
Yeah, I mean, I'm gonna have a bunch of my remixes that I've been doing, my rock remixes. I just did one for The Game, just doing for 3-6 Mafia, uh, Busta Rhymes. And it's gonna have ten originals as well. So it'll have half remixes, half originals. And the originals will be everything from punk rock to hip-hop to country. Like I'm a big Willie Nelson fan, so I wanna do a collaboration with him.
We're launching your new hat for New Era. Now I have to say, it is pretty dope. Tell me about the whole inspiration behind the,
it comes from a, a drum machine that's been around for a long time called MPC. Um, I I look at 'em every day. I have like, I have a bunch of stickers on 'em, whatever else. And it's just like, it's become like the second half of my brain. I'm Travis Barker. You're watching Young Hollywood.
