We are hanging out here with Matt White.

This is my first show in LA in like six months.

I gotta ask because you just sort of picked up a guitar.

Did it really happen that way?

Did you really just teach yourself how to play?

Yeah.

I really taught myself guitar.

I come from a very musical family.

My grandmother was the first female orchestra leader in the country and my older sister's a violinist.

Now you've toured with people like Cheryl Crow.

John Mayer.

Being on tour is just such a fun experience because you get to go to all these different places.

You really get to see America and tell us what you have going on on VH1.

Oh, my video.

Yeah.

Well, you can vote and it's on fire right now.

You know, it's very hard because it's like Bon Jovi, Pink and Matt White, you know, it doesn't make sense to me.

It's a lot of friends on MySpace, but what's the latest count?

What is it like for Matt White to go home to Jersey now?

When I go back to New York, I'm like a real mama's boy.

I stay at my parents' house because I just I I enjoy being there.

There's food and there's my bed and I take a bath and it's really relaxing.

Who are some artists that you're looking at right now?

Well, definitely the older artists like Springsteen and the Stones.

There's some new artists.

I love Regina Spector.

I love this band Rooney, which is a band on Geffen.

What has been your attitude to get you to where you are?

Um, positivity.

Just the fact that we as musicians get to do what we do and it's like that's like I would do it for free.

Even though I don't think people would be happy about that in my camp.

I would do it for I would pay to do it.
