Kodaline

Where do we start? Not much for separation but we've got real bad anxiety when we're away from home so we like to cuddle and we when we didn't have heat and we just kind of use body heat. This is our seat. Uh it can be turned into an office. It can be turned into a studio. It depends what mood you're in really. But uh it's even a it's even a two-seater. You just have to get really close. It's only one double so you have to make the most of it. This is where we sleep. This is my bunk. This is Steve's bunk. This is Vinny's bunk. And the rest are other people we don't know. And this is Jason's bunk. So we just kind of sleep here. We're in America now for a month. And we haven't got a single day off but it's it's it's good though. Favorite thing about being on tour is traveling. It's an obvious one getting to meet people and stuff. Least favorite is airports.

Kodaline

Like my my favorite thing would be probably airports. No, my least favorite thing is like um when you're when you're on a bus and stuff and traveling, you have to stop off and you have to get your laundry done, right? So you have to pack as many socks as possible.

Who on tour is the hardest to track down?

Kodaline

We all we all have our own moments. Like we we nearly lost our drummer at a truck stop and then we had Jay lost his passport in New York so we had to fly back to Europe and leave him here for like four days. But he just made a holiday out of it. Taking photos and going, guys, look where I am, you know? By himself. Like, oh no, I'm in New York. Awful. We never planned on like becoming a band, but so this we've toured a little bit but only around Ireland. So you could tour Ireland in like a day if you wanted to and you could probably walk it, you know? So America's obviously completely different, you know, but it's been great. When we see bands come over to Ireland, like for when we were growing up, like we just see a band come in in their tour bus and they'd be all flashy and it looks really cool. But we only see them for a day, you know? So we know it was very hard to judge what the whole life on the road is going to be like until we got out here. It's a lot busier than I thought. Yeah. This is our first kind of proper gig in LA. So it's like really exciting for us. And this year has been really great for us. Like our album's just out here now and like two weeks ago it was only released, so it's all exciting. The album's basically like stories. Well, not really stories. Experiences that we've had, like places we've been, it's about people as well, you know, obviously breakups. Don't mention names because that's awkward. Get in real trouble. Yeah. But yeah, it's it's a whole a whole load of different kind of vibes on the album, you know? There's really happy songs about kind of trying to get out of your hometown and just songs about positive thinking as well, which is something we're big believers in and you know, it's it's quite a varied album, it's quite eclectic. We'd like to think.

Do you guys have any uh rituals before you take the stage? Anything that you have to anything you got to do?

Kodaline

We usually strip down to our boxes and sit around in a circle and like light a little fire. Do a little prayer. There's no like ritual. We don't do we don't do anything every day and we're like, once our tour's you've asked me like, should we start doing something? But it's like, nah, just have a beer. Just chill out. That's all we do. So we've seen the front of the bus and you've seen the middle section of the bus. This is the end section of the bus. And uh We've never actually gone down this far so Yeah, it takes too long. I we'll show you, we'll show you. This is a very spacious bathroom. Very spacious. It has a fan that doesn't work. Hint the smell. Uh and then there's this bit back here which we don't use at all. You're going to have to go in there on your own because it's really too small. There's a sink and there's a shower. God knows why they put a shower on this thing. I'm sorry about today. We just we didn't know you were coming. Yeah, exactly. There's socks on the floor. Yeah. The hanger's still there. The hanger's still there but that's all right because that's an integral part of the bus so that has to stay there. So, um this is our bus and uh I hope you enjoyed the tour. Thank you very much for coming on. Would you please go away? We're trying to sleep.
