What makes a good gumbo? Well, there's a lot of things. I'll start off by saying, you have to have a really, really good base. Being around the kitchen in front of my grandmother, mom and aunts, I've learned that it contains flour and some other Young Hollywood.
Give me that beat and I'mma go. Give me that beat and I'mma go. Here I go. Give me, give me go. Give me, give me go. Give me, give me go. Give me, give me go.
Guys, where are we right now?
We're at House of Blues. I mean, the best seafood in LA, and the closest thing to New Orleans that we have here. Why? You need this is why. You need a plate, so I can give you some and you can see why. Just give me that bass.
Tell me when you knew things were really happening for you.
I think I knew last December, me and Blair, we were working on some songs. A call came from Capo and it was like, We heard your music a year ago. You guys are amazing. You know, we wanna sign you guys. You have a great sound.
I don't know what you are saying. It's so good. Oh. He's involved. So good. Oh, you just eating without me. So you you eat and I'll I'll ask Blair questions so you can get some good grub in there.
You think he's just gonna talk to me the whole time and just let Blair eat all the food?
Blair, how did you meet Keyon?
Oh, man. We met through a mutual friend. Um, and he was just like, man, if you and Keyon get together, you and you guys are gonna really make history. And I'll say that I ignored Keyon for about a year.
Oh, that's the best way to get him.
Keyon called me, texted me. Didn't answer. And I didn't know him, but I had my own clientele that I was working with and I was just comfortable. Yeah. Fast forward, fast forward. Keyon hits me up a year later and I decided to give him a shot. For a month, right? Give him a shot.
I didn't get what he was doing at the time. He wanted to push the envelope. I'm like not such a normal guy. Like I'm so left in my own world. Right. And half the time people usually don't get me. So when I started working with Blair, I knew he wouldn't, but I knew if I paid him that he would at least try.
So, uh, bass is pretty badass. I'm gonna do my running man outside for you because that's what I was doing earlier when I was listening. Your running man. The running. Oh, hell yeah. How do you Is that not a good reaction?
It's that's that's bomb, but I love the hells yeah. That's the best part.
What's the hells yeah? Have you heard from any celebrities giving you love?
Travis McCoy. He walked us up. Just give me that babe babe babe. I'm like wait. He was like, he's like singing my song. He was like, "Yeah, man, that video is crazy."
It's so crazy. And there's a fetus. Like a skeleton fetus in your video.
We have See, we're touching every lane.
I know. Even babies in stomachs need to know who speakers are. Praying women. We love you. Praying women and your fetus. We love you. You are friends. Why speakers?
Why speakers? There's two of us and you know, when you got good speakers, you have a left and a right and you need those speakers to make a great sound. Stereo. Stereo. There you go. So it's like me, we we and Blair when we make music, we need each other.
Can you tell me what the highlight's been so far?
My mom watching a TV show. Because my mom like it's like really into like the Y shows and like all these shows. She was watching baseball wives like recently and she was like, "I'm just watching TV." You know, just getting into the show. The next thing I know is I hear your song goes like, "Just give me that, babe." She was like, ah.
Did she do the running man?
Oh. Hells yeah. Hells yeah.
I know that y'all know all about NOLA, but I found some quirky facts. Don't don't cheat. I found some quirky facts about New Orleans and I want to do true or false with you guys. So I'm gonna say it. Is gonna be fun. And then you go true or false. Hey, cool. Right? Chasing fish in a city park is illegal.
False.
Yes. It's true, y'all. It's true. It's true. Yes, it's true. Well, I don't chase fish. It is illegal to practice voodoo within city limits.
No.
It's not true.
Apparently it's true. According to Google. Really? Condoms may not be thrown from a float during Mardi Gras.
True. I've thrown one. So I guess I'm going to jail.
You are going to the slammer. New Orleans is the home of the best band in the world, speakers.
True.
St. Augustine, where I went.
And St. Augustine.
Thanks so much for talking to Young Hollywood, guys. We're so excited for all your success.
Thank you for having us.
