Young Hollywood

What's going on guys, hanging with me right now, I have the Dan and Shay, how are you guys doing? Dan + Shay: Good, what's happening, it's good to see you.

Young Hollywood

I like your jacket Dan + Shay: Thank you!

Young Hollywood

It's really cool. I like everything that you guys are wearing. Dan + Shay: Well thank you, can I wear this for the performance, will that be cool? Are you serious, will you give me creds?

Young Hollywood

Yeah, I'm just gonna take it. Will you say hi to me on the stage? Dan + Shay: No, no. (laughing) Dang! I absolutely would! You just said we were friends, what's going on with that?

Young Hollywood

You know friends, you know don't make friends, I don't know, I don't know where I'm going with this, I like your jacket. Dan + Shay: Okay.

Young Hollywood

I know that's all we're saying, it's really really cool. (laughs) we approve 10 out of 10. Well, the last time we saw you guys, you were performing "How Not To" for us in the studio. I want to start every day with a performance by Dan and Shay. Dan + Shay: Aw, man. We bring a lot of energy. We're crazy, so I don't know if you could do that every single day.

Young Hollywood

Now I get to congratulate you guys, because you're first-time nominated for GRAMMYs. You guys. Dan + Shay: Oh, this is insane. It finally felt real for the first time when we walked in today. It's like crazy, it's so locked down back here, there's so much security, and then you walk into the arena, and you see, like, Lady Gaga's here, Travis Scott's here, all these really famous people. Now we're kind of nervous, actually, for the performance. So hopefully, knock on wood, that it goes well. I don't know if that's wood. There's wood back there somewhere. There we go. We gotta find the stud. Done.

Young Hollywood

You guys are among these people though, that's like insane now, right? That's a crazy feeling. Dan + Shay: I mean, just looking, like Dan said, when you're looking at our names, next to all these people, it's, I don't know, it's hard to soak it in, and you have kind of these moments of realization. I think we've had that this week of, "Man, this really is crazy." We're very lucky to be here. We've also worked really, really hard to get here, It's going to be really cool, it's kind of a full-circle moment. We've watched this in the past so many times. I remember Dan and I have watched the GRAMMYs a couple times together before we probably even started our band, we were just writing songs. So this is a huge moment for us.

Young Hollywood

It's huge, and it's for your song "Tequila," of course. I want to know how much tequila have you actually had in celebration since this nomination? Dan + Shay: Oh my goodness. (Shay laughs) Tequila inspired us to write that song. Of course. So we've had so much-- My liquor cabinet is like full to the brim with tequila. It's not a bad thing, I'm not complaining. It's incredible. All my friends, they know where to find it. It's really fun, it's been a fun ride. We've gotten so much free tequila we're like, "Our next single should be called 'Cash' or something," (Shay laughs) "people will just give us a bunch of cash." Cars. Gotta be smart. Gotta be smart.

Young Hollywood

Okay, so I have to bring this up. You guys are getting so much love from huge artists like Niall Horan, Shawn Mendes, you know there's some speculation with Shawn, which you can't tell us, but I want to know. You guys hang out. So set the scene for me: what's the session like when you guys hang? Dan + Shay: Oh man, Shawn is such a talented guy. There's a lot of artists that, you know, you probably see and you wonder, "I wonder if they're really as great "as I think that they are." And we've got to work with Shawn and hang out with him and he really is what you see up there. He's so talented and that really comes from his brain. He's such a great songwriter, and it was really fun. We've gotten the chance to write with him before and it was really, really cool. You never know what'll ever come, you know? You never know.

Young Hollywood

Well if you guys collab, you're gonna have to come to the Young Hollywood studio and perform it, obviously. Dan + Shay: Absolutely.

Young Hollywood

And then maybe we can be friends again? Dan + Shay: There we go, (Nicole laughs) we can be friends again after the whole jacket incident. (instrumental rock music)
