We Need To Talk About "Tiger King"...

Written by Sarrah Wolfe. Published: April 03 2020

As my opening statement of this relatively brief but necessary discussion about the new and wildly outrageous Netflix program that is "Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness", I will say this:

Seriously, WHOA.

Nobody could have possibly been prepared for that. As if March wasn’t already traumatic enough, Netflix had to go and release this TV show that will mix you all up inside and make you feel every single possible emotion and leave you questioning the state of society and everything you know.

First, you’re laughing at Joe Exotic, who is inarguably the most entertainingly deranged character to have ever lived.

Next, you’re feeling bad because all of these poor cats are being held in conditions that are less than acceptable and are lawlessly being sold off and used and abused.

AND THEN, you’re questioning your entire perception of the world when you find out that the seemingly sweet but equally idiosyncratic animal rights advocate, Carole Baskin, has little remorse for her husband’s disappearance and may or may not have played a role in his disappearance and possible murder...

But it doesn’t stop there, folks! These guys are relentless!

Then you throw Joe’s three husbands and con-man Jeff Lowe and sex cult leader Doc Antle and the FBI into the mix, and you are totally disoriented because you have no idea how we went from a simple story of an eccentric zookeeper with a deep disdain for a crazy cat lady to a giant web of murder schemes, suicide, theft, animal abuse, political campaigns, and country music.

And, okay, maybe the “Murder, Mayhem, and Madness” in the series title tried to warn us, but there is absolutely no way to fully brace yourself for what happens in this show.

And if it didn’t already get crazy enough, the Hillsborough County Sheriff in Florida recently called for new leads into the disappearance of Carole’s husband, and now Trump is considering pardoning Joe Exotic.

I am never going to emotionally recover from this.
