Vampires Are So Hot Right Now (Again)!

Attention, creatures of the night lovers, vampires bite again! The fascination with vampires existed before film was even invented, and there are no signs of it ever stopping. Case in point: the recent release of the trailer from Sinners, the mystery vampire film by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan that comes out on March 7, 2025. 

Unfortunately, Coogler has kept the exact details of the story secret, so we don’t know much right now except that it is vampire tale, Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers, and the original script was written by Coogler. Without knowing more, we can imagine that the vampires of Sinners will be closer to, say, From Dusk Till Dawn than to Twilight.

But there is more great news about the vampire universe from Hollywood. Finally, a new adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel, Salem’s Lot -- about a writer looking for inspiration and finds vampires -- is coming out at Max on the October 5.

Gary Dauberman, the director and screenwriter of Annabelle, takes the helm of Salem’s Lot, a film that came close to never being released -- it was shot in 2021 but Warner Bros. postponed it until Stephen King appealed to the studio via a post on X.

But that's not all! We also have the release date of Nosferatu, the remake of the iconic 1922 silent film based on Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. Directed by Robert Eggers and starring Bill Skarsgärd as the creepy Count Orlock, Nosferatu will hit theters on Christmas Day.

These releases follow a recent trend in the last few years that suggest that vampires are making comeback in film and television in a big way. On the big screen, Abigail -- about a bloodsucking ballerina (played brilliantly by Alisha Weir) who terrorizes a group of would-be kidnappers -- thrilled audiences, while the seconds seasons of SyFy's "Reginald the Vampire" (about a teen vampire with self-image issues) and AMC's masterful "Interview with the Vampire" (an updated version of the classic Anne Rice novel) premiered earlier this year.

But the happiness does not end for those who love bloodsuckers. First, Netflix will be giving us an animated adaptation of the novel Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer, which is the Twilight story told through Edward's perspective.

And finally, Julie Plec, the showrunner of "The Vampire Diaries", "The Originals", and "Legacies", has announced that she has more stories to tell. Therefore, it looks like we will see the Salvatore brothers again sometime soon, 15 years after our first visit to Mystic Falls.
