Netflix adds and deletes shows and movies to its platform so often, it can be hard to keep up. It can also be hard to determine if a new series or movie will be relevant to your specific set of interests. With that in mind, here is a list of 5 recent additions to the streaming app and whether you would like them based on your personal preferences!

1. For 2010s Dystopian Vibes: Uglies

As a dystopian film adapted from a popular novel by Scott Westerfeld, this film is very reminiscent of the 2010s dystopian fad brought on by the popularity of movies such as The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner. For this reason, some critics say Uglies came out ten years too late; however, if you loved the aforementioned movies and feel nostalgic for that 2010s era, Uglies is definitely the movie for you. The plot of the movie stays pretty true to the book, though probably won’t look as visually shocking as readers of the novel might have imagined.

2. For Reality TV Fans: "UnREAL"

This fictional scripted television series about the behind-the-scenes of a "The Bachelor"-esque reality show came to Netflix in August. If the dark side of reality TV interests you, this show is 100% for you. It’s perfect for both skeptics and fans of romantic reality television, including morally corrupt characters and unexpected twists.

3. For Mystery Buffs: "The Perfect Couple"

Having premiered on Netflix September 5th, this new murder mystery drama is an entertaining and engrossing adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand's best-selling novel. Though it doesn’t quite live up the source material (especially that twist ending), it will surely satiate your appetite for crime and family drama. Some might find it predictable, over-the-top, and lacking in focus, but overall it's an enjoyable, suspenseful watch, offering loads of twists – some which you may or may not see coming. If you love murder mysteries and family intrigue – or Nicole Kidman – this series is for you.

4. For Fantasy Lovers: "Kaos"

A dark comedy bringing Greek mythology into the modern day, this new Netflix original is perfect for fans of irreverent comedy-dramas. Jeff Goldblum gives a hilarious performance as the god Zeus that will captivate audience members. Very original and fun, "Kaos" is perfect for those searching for fresh and entertaining television, and will hit home with anyone interested in Greek Mythology. If you like "Percy Jackson and The Olympians", "The Umbrella Academy", or any off-beat fantasy series, you will love "Kaos".

5. For Action Movie Fans: Rebel Ridge

This action-packed thriller just arrived to Netflix on September 6th, featuring a stunning performance by lead actor Aaron Pierre. The film has a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, hailed as exhilarating, smart, and expertly-paced. It deals with police abuse and revenge and is a definite must-watch for both action and crime-drama enthusiasts. The GuardianpraisesRebel Ridge for “reinventing the action movie”, marking it as a film worth going out of your way to watch.
