Another Summer, another wardrobe change. Sigh...

Summer is my favorite season, and it’s not necessarily because of the weather, the beach trips, and the abundance of shirtless men (though that certainly doesn't hurt!). Simply put, Summer is the G.O.A.T. season for more reasons than one, but as the fashion enthusiast that I am, clothes are at the top of my list. And I know I’m not the only one. When it comes to fashion, it’s not always so easy to keep up. However, no matter what trends hit the market each year, Summer style is always casually chic, effortless, and comfortable. You can’t beat that unless you’re slaying a Valentino gown on the red carpet or something.  

Certain styles come and go, but one aspect of Summer style that just isn’t going to go away is skin. After all, Summer is the season to show a little skin whether you like it or not. Arms, legs, shoulders – oh my!

One-Piece Bathing Suits

Although Summer is the season for skin, it isn’t a free pass from class, ladies! Personally, I never thought one-piece bathing suits would ever make a comeback after the '90s but hey, MIRACLES HAPPEN. And what a beautiful miracle that is, because one-piece bathing suits are in high demand this season. You can find suits with cuts that are creative, tasteful, and appealing to both the body and the eye. One-piece suits are great to hide certain aspects you aren’t so confident about and accentuate those aspects you are. If that’s not a Summertime miracle, then I don’t know what is.

Off-The-Shoulder

Whether it’s a dress or a shirt, you can never go wrong with an off-the-shoulder piece. It’s a sexy-yet-subtle look, which is ultimately the goal, amirite? Not to mention, this look accentuates your collarbone and gives you more length from the neck down. #FakeItTillYouMakeIt

Boyfriend-Cut Denim Shorts

This Spring, boyfriend jeans were all the rage (and still are), but now that it’s Summer, it’s time to show off some leg with hotter temps in full effect. There is a time and place for short, stretchy, and tight denim cut-offs, but loose-fitted, worn-down boyfriend shorts are EVERYTHING. Pair them with a tighter fitting top and chunky belt, and boom – your look is effortlessly sexy. (You can thank me later!)

“Paper Bag Waist” Pants

The fact that these pants are referred to as “paper bag waist” pants might scare you away, but put them on and the only thing that gets scared away is your waistline! The bunched-up elastic material around your hips that’s pulled together with a thick tie is one of the most flattering and classic looks this Summer. The pants are comfortable, “flowy” (I’d say something else, but put them on and you’ll understand that is the most appropriate word possible), and even sleek when paired with a tighter top and heel. To be sleek and “flowy” all in one? #GOALS

Gladiator Sandals & Strappy Heels

It’s not breaking news that gladiator sandals have taken over the Spring and Summer shoe game, but because of how popular that style of shoe has become, now there is a variety of them out there. Strappy heels are also very in this Summer, and what’s great about them is they pretty much go with any kind of look – dressing it up or dressing it down. 

Open Back

I’m just going to say a couple things about this look: (1) Business in the front, party in the back, and (2) Back. Sweat. Free. #BacklessandBlessed

Two-Piece Sets

These are classy, cute, and sophisticated depending on what kind of set you're working with. This look usually shows off about a sliver of your midsection, which is perfect for any Summer fun occasion. The best part about this look is that it makes you feel like you really have your $#!+ together… even if you don’t. Summer season is no time to slack!

Lace-Up Leotards

This is a trend that actually started near the end of Winter, but it still hasn’t died down and I have to say… not mad about it! Leotards with jeans or nice dress pants are the perfect way to make you feel sleek and sexy on a Friday night out. The lace-up in the middle of the chest makes way for a nice breeze to come through and show just enough cleavage in the most secure way possible. With the lace holding everything together… ya girls aren’t going anywhere.
