6 Shows to Help You Recover After the "Schitt’s Creek" Finale!

Written by Kyla Killackey. Published: April 07 2020

Let’s begin with a moment of silence for one of the greatest TV shows of our time, "Schitt’s Creek".

I, personally, am dreading the long, silent hours without any “ew David!”s to fill the void, and so, in preparation for that dark day (which happens to be TODAY), I have put together a list of shows that come as close as possible to our beloved "Schitt’s Creek". Hopefully they can help us all get through this trying time.

1. "New Girl" (Netflix)

Add a few more roommates to David and Alexis’s motel suite and you’ve got "New Girl".

This is one of the most bingeworthy shows there is and will leave you with sore stomach muscles from laughing so hard. FYI: a douchebag jar is something everyone should have.

2. "Workin’ Moms" (Netflix)

Clearly, with the new success of "Schitt’s Creek", Canadian content is underestimated (and I don’t say that just because I’m Canadian).

"Workin’ Moms" is another comedy from the North, and it’s just as hysterical. A group of women have to confront the reality of being new moms and make quite a few questionable parenting decisions along the way

3. "Arrested Development" (Netflix)

If you’re on the hunt for a new dysfunctional family, look no further.

"Arrested Development" actually has a very similar premise to "Schitt’s Creek" – a once-wealthy family is stuck together after they lose their fortune and it’s full of all the sharp sarcasm we love.

4. "Happy Endings" (Hulu)

Six best friends try to tackle the world of adulting with varying results. I recently rediscovered "Happy Endings" and honestly it only gets funnier the second time around.

5. "Broad City" (Hulu)

I’ll give you an Alexis and raise you an Ilana.

"Broad City" has all the catchphrases and more to make up for us losing “Ew, David,” and they’re all just as good. It’s an absurd comedy about two women figuring out (or just trying to get through) life in New York and well worth a watch.

6. "PEN15" (Hulu)

You couldn’t pay me to relive my middle school years, but I will gladly watch the girls of "PEN15" take every awkward teenage moment and turn them into comedic gold.

It’s about friendship and family and learning how to shave your legs, and it is one of the funniest new shows there is.

"Schitt’s Creek" will be taking its final bow tonight (April 7; check your local listings), so make sure you have your streaming services at the ready -- at least one of these shows is guaranteed to keep your laughter going!
