It’s a good week -- no, month! -- to be a Star Wars fan. With Star Wars Day having just passed, Star Wars Celebration commencing in a few weeks, and the long-awaited "Obi-Wan Kenobi" series premiering on May 27, and now, earlier this week, it was announced that a new original series "Ahsoka" is starting production. It’s named after the famed Jedi Ahsoka Tano, and according to what we know of the series so far, it’s a direct spinoff of "The Mandalorian".

Ahsoka has become an increasingly popular and beloved character after she was the center of the much-praised Star Wars animated series "The Clone Wars", "Star Wars Rebels", and "Forces of Destiny", which ran for several years on Cartoon Network. Each show took place at very different times in her life. She recently made a high profile reappearance in the Star Wars universe by popping up for the first time in live-action in the Disney+ shows "The Mandalorian" and "The Book of Boba Fett", where she was portrayed by Rosario Dawson. The iconic actress will reprise this role in the upcoming series.

While we don’t know much yet, there are some things that happened earlier in the Star Wars universe that could point to answers. Because it will take place directly after the destruction of Palpatine’s Empire, Ahsoka is much older and wiser than we last saw her in a major central role, which took place many years earlier (in context of the Star Wars universe, "The Clone Wars" occurred before Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader). By the time she ran into Boba Fett and The Mandalorian, she was infinitely more confident in the ways of the Force.

In terms of personality, Ashoka is usually shown to dedicate herself to many of the beliefs that make up the Jedi Order, though she left the Order behind and has stated that she is not a Jedi. She is stoic, wise, and always trying to learn a new skill to help herself and help others. This started when she trained under Anakin as a Padawan, where she was determined to do good and to do right by the Jedi Code.

It’ll be very interesting to see how this Star Wars series differentiates itself from the other ones. One could guess that Ahsoka’s personality would make it different, as she would react to a situation differently than Boba or Mando might. Hopefully, we’ll uncover and expand on the specific worldview of Ahsoka Tano.

Stay tuned for more!
