Life in plastic, it really is fantastic! Now that Barbie has officially hit theatres, fashion lovers everywhere have been talking non-stop about all of the amazing outfits from the film! Oscar-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran gave each character his or her own look and style, making everyone cohesive but still stand out in a unique way. From channeling classic Barbie looks, giving today’s Barbie a modern twist, and even adding a hint of vintage Chanel, here is a breakdown of all of our favorite looks from the Barbie movie!

1. Classic Barbie

This look was done for all you OG Barbie fans! Shown at the beginning of the film, Barbie is seen in a black-and-white striped one-piece swimsuit, complete with a blonde ponytail and white sunglasses. This scene was also inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, showing little girls at the beginning of time, before being introduced to the famous doll that changed history! Instantly recognizable, this look was worn by the very first Barbie doll in its debut in 1959. Don’t you just love the classics?!

2. Pink Gingham Barbie

While Barbie gets ready for another perfect day in Barbie World, she is seen sporting a super cute pink gingham dress, complete with a matching bow in her long blonde hair, pearl-buckled belt, and pink and white floral necklace. We get to see what Barbie World is all about as she takes us through a day in her life wearing this outfit. This look screams “Barbie!” in the best way possible and has all wishing we had something to wear just like it!

3. Western Barbie & Ken

Yeehaw! Fans first got to see these looks when the cast was spotted filming out in Los Angeles. After Barbie and Ken realize they need to lay low in the Real World and blend in a bit more, they find a little store and some super fun fits to change into! After a minor hiccup with the police (because they don’t have money in Barbie World!), Barbie and Ken are able to obtain these outfits and walk around the town. Although it doesn’t necessarily help them blend in, we can’t deny how fabulous they look!

4. Rollerskating Barbie & Ken

Go Barbie go! These rollerskating looks were first introduced to us when the cast were seen filming out in sunny California in June 2022. Paparazzi snapped a few photos, and the rest was history. Barbie and Ken must travel to the Real World a number of different ways, rollerskating being one of them! Barbie and Ken are seen wearing these matching neon '80s-inspired fits as they get their first taste of the Real World in the film, gaining them a ton of attention, and has Barbie wondering if she needs another outfit change!

5. Disco Barbie

Come on, Barbie, lets go party! Barbie wears this glittery disco chic number to a party she hosts at her Dream House. This dress gives off the perfect dance party vibe that ensures that she’ll have a blast. Barbie dances the night away in this dress with all her favorite pals (and the musical talents of Dua Lipa) before she asks a simple question that will change the course of her life and the film’s plot forever...!

6. Worker Barbie & Friends

Barbie is a working girl! In this behind-the-scenes photo, director of the film Greta Gerwig is seen wearing the same pink worker jumpsuit as the rest of the cast. In the actual scene from the film, Barbie gets the help of her friends, played by Ariana Greenblatt, America Ferrera, Michael Cera, and Alexandra Shipp, to help un-brainwash the other Barbies and restore Barbie World back to normal. They, of course, wear the perfect ensemble to do it!

7. Finale Barbie

In one of the final scenes of the film, Barbie has restored peace to Barbie World and has realized what her true purpose in life is. As this movie starts to wrap up, and Barbie feels like she’s finally back to normal, she is seen wearing a gorgeous pink dress complete with a heart-shaped Chanel bag and a gorgeous Chanel necklace. The vintage necklace is from Chanel’s 1995 Spring-Summer collection, featuring their famous logo and various gemstones of different colors. This is one look we’ll never forget!
