When talking about new rap artists, there’s one rapper that stands out more than the rest. He goes bar for bar, his beats are catchy, and his vibe is contagious. DaBaby is climbing the charts and is definitely one of the hottest new rappers of 2019!

Who is DaBaby is exactly? DaBaby tells his story through his music. He gives people the chance to relate to him and understand him as a person. I think that’s why he is so well loved. He not only makes music that hypes you up, but he’s actually rapping about real life experiences. Not all of his music is serious, though. He gives us a lot of trap we like to get crazy to as well. DaBaby delivers both in his newest album Kirk, which was released in September.

DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and rose to stardom after his single “Suge” was released. His catchy lyrics and dope beat had everyone bumping to this song. “Suge” reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, and rightfully so.

This year, DaBaby announced that he would be dropping an album and claimed that it would be “as big as Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III for this generation.” Though some people didn’t like this statement, DaBaby really delivered in his newest album. Kirk, in my opinion, is one of, if not THE hottest album of 2019. His lyrics and his flow really resonated with his fans and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 200.

DaBaby’s biggest song off the album is his single “INTRO”. I think this song really defines him as an artist. It's is fresh and unique, and it peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. DaBaby is able to produce music that tells a real story. Though the song tells an emotional tale, listeners are able to understand DaBaby as a person while still being able to rock out and jam to his beats.

DaBaby is on the rise and there’s no stopping him. He just recently won BET’s Hip Hop Award for Best New Hip Hop Artist for 2019.
