5 Online Resources To Keep You Entertained, Educated, & Creative While Self-Isolating!

Written by Emily Holshouser. Published: April 06 2020

Being cooped up inside is bringing out weird emotions in all of us. We’re all dealing with it differently, but one perk to more time at home is more time to learn!

We’ve gathered some online resources for you to get some knowledge during this strange, sad time and come out of it with some new things in your brains. Stay safe out there, friends!

1. Netflix Party

If you want to have watch parties with your friends, this is the perfect app for you!

Netflix Party is a Google Chrome extension that allows you to play and pause Netflix at the same time as your friends, so you can all watch together. "Grey’s Anatomy" rewatch sesh, anyone?

2. The Google Art Project

Google Arts & Culture has made several museums around the world available to peruse online, including MoMA, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Getty.

You can look through the iconic collections at these museums and go through specific exhibits. Perfect indoor activity to gift you some knowledge and maybe some art inspiration, if you’re a creator.

3. Free BroadwayHD

The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles has given us a TRUE gift -- a free one-month trial of BroadwayHD, a streaming service with a sizable collection of free-to-watch musicals and plays.

You can watch Falsettos or Bye Bye Birdie in the comfort of your home. No squeezing into seats or waiting for the bathroom at intermission!

Grab a glass of wine and treat yo’self to a night at the theater. Use the code “GPHFM” to get your free month!

4. Adobe Creative Cloud

Now is the perfect time to make Photoshop masterpieces or cut together all those great Snapchat videos you wish you could watch whenever you wanted.

Adobe Creative Cloud is giving a free 2-month membership to anyone -- so get creating! You can use those artistic skills long after this is over, but you may not have the time to learn later.

5. Live Nature Cameras

These are relaxing at any time, but we’re a big fan of live nature cameras right now, since it’s harder to go outdoors.

Watch a Bald Eagle and their babies! Watch peaceful fish swimming around a reef! Watch Ospreys in their nest! So many critters to see. This is great for kids and adults alike.

Stay safe and sane, everyone!
