Victoria Beckham to receive charity award
Victoria Beckham is set to receive an award for her charity work at Eva Longoria's Global Gift Gala.
The former Spice Girls star will be handed the Global Gift Philanthopeneur Award in recognition of her work for charities such as Mothers2mothers, Save the Children and Born Free Africa.
Recipients of the prize are said to have shown "commitment,
dedication and achievement as a world-renowned entrepreneur and
philanthropist."
Beckham says in a statement, "I am very much looking forward to
returning to The Global Gift Gala to support my good friend Eva
Longoria. It is also a great honour to be receiving the Global Gift
Philanthropeneur Award at this special event".
Longoria, who chairs the event annually, adds, "(It is) a huge
pleasure to honour my dear friend, Victoria to celebrate her
outstanding charitable work".
The news comes just days after Beckham gave an impassioned speech
on AIDS in Africa at the United Nations as part of her role as a
Global Goodwill Ambassador.
The event will take place in London in November (14).
