Tika Sumpter is a first-time mom

Actress Tika Sumpter has reportedly given birth to a baby girl.

The Ride Along star was surprised to discover she was expecting earlier this year (16) and went out of her way to keep the news a secret from family and friends. However, she announced she was pregnant in August (16) and she has recently given birth.

Details surrounding the baby have not been revealed, but the 36-year-old has taken to Twitter to offer her thoughts on parenthood, writing, "Dear Mom's, dad's and caretakers. I'm slow clapping for each and every one of you. It ain't no joke."

Tika has yet to name the father of her child, but last month (Sep16) the actress opened up about her relationship, insisting the couple wouldn't be rushing down the aisle.

"One of the first questions my mother asked when she found out I was pregnant was, 'Are you going to get married?'" she told Fit Pregnancy & Baby magazine. "I'd love to, but maybe in a year or so. I've been with my boyfriend for more than a year and a half. Our relationship is not dependent on a ring. I love him to death, and he loves me to death, and that's all that matters to me."

She also explained she wanted to keep the pregnancy a secret so she could enjoy it privately.

"I didn't want to hear, 'Who's the dad? Are you with the dad?'" she continued. "Social media can be harsh, and I'm a mama bear, protective of my family. So that's why I waited to tell people, including some friends. My friends weren't mad at me. They said, 'You did it the way you wanted to do it. You're an inspiration'."
