Ryan Reynolds blasts smug parents

Actor Ryan Reynolds is adamant he will keep quiet about his daughter's talents because he finds parents who boast about their children "annoying".

The Proposal star became a first-time father after his partner, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, gave birth to baby James late last year (14).

Reynolds and Lively have remained relatively guarded about their new arrival as the star insists he wants to keep his "private moments" by avoiding taking to social media to discuss his daughter.

He tells HuffPost Live, "Everybody thinks their son or daughter is God's gift to air. And in their home, they are. When I'm in my private moments, I look at my daughter and go, 'You are the most amazing creature I've ever seen in my life.' (It's) sort of annoying to (tweet about your child) publicly, so I usually go the other way, and write silly jokes about how my daughter's terrible with her art."
