Rihanna sues over mansion flooding

Written by . Published: September 01 2011

Rihanna has filed a lawsuit against the former owner of her $6.9 million Los Angeles mansion following a flood at the property last year (10).

The Umbrella hitmaker insists she was told there were no known defects with the Beverly Hills spread when she bought it in 2009.

However, during a 2010 storm, water flooded several rooms in the mansion - and Rihanna is convinced the former owner was aware of structural problems, including waterproofing defects and evidence of water intrusion.

The star filed papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday (31Aug11) claiming the woman who sold her the house had lied about the state of the property.

She has also targeted the inspector, the real estate agents involved with the sale and engineers who worked on the house in the court documents, obtained by TMZ.com.

Rihanna claims that "the actual value of the property at the time of purchase, taking into consideration the extensive construction defects... was millions of dollars less" than the price she paid for it.
