Rihanna and Chris Brown both up for Woodies
Rihanna is set to go head-to-head with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown for an inaugural dance music prize at the 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards.
The former couple, who split after Brown left Rihanna battered and bruised in a 2009 bust-up, have both been nominated in the new Electronic Dance Music Effect Woodie at the college music prize-giving.
Rihanna's chart-topper We Found Love with Calvin Harris goes up
against Brown and Benny Benassi's Beautiful People, Flo Rida and
Avicii's Good Feeling, Kanye West and Jay-Z's Who Gon Stop Me,
Ready 2 Go by Martin Solveig featuring Kele, and Turbulence by
Laidback Luke and Steve Aoki.
The Woodie of the Year will be a contest between The Black Keys,
Foster the People, Frank Ocean, Mac Miller, J. Cole and Skrillex,
while The Black Keys, Kanye West and Jay-Z, and the Swedish House
Mafia are among the acts up for the Performing Woodie.
The annual mtvU Woodie Awards, voted for by college students, will
take place on 18 March (12) in Austin, Texas.
