Prince Harry announces Joss Stone as charity ambassador
British royal Prince Harry named singer Joss Stone as the celebrity ambassador for his Sentebale charity during the organisation's 10th anniversary celebrations on Wednesday (07May14).
The prince set up the charity in 2004 alongside Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in a bid to help young children battling HIV, AIDS, or extreme poverty.
The Sentebale Summer Party was held to mark the milestone at The
Dorchester hotel in London, and the royal revealed Stone would work
alongside him as a spokesperson for the cause.
The You Had Me hitmaker travelled to the tiny African nation of
Lesotho earlier this year (14) as part of her world tour, and she
met youngsters whose lives had been transformed by Sentebale's
work.
At the party, Prince Harry told guests, "At times the severity of
severe poverty can be overwhelming. However it is through the
dedication, passion and commitment of the Sentebale team, our
community partners, local government - the children's longing to
learn - and you tonight that we are battling with these issues and
giving these children a chance of a happier future."
Other celebrity guests included singer Beverley Knight and former
Westlife star Kian Egan.
