Nick Cannon leads Black Lives Matter protest in New York

Written by . Published: July 09 2016

Rapper/TV host Nick Cannon took to the streets of New York on Thursday (07Jul16) to protest against the recent police shootings.

Many celebrities have taken to social media to express their sadness and to call for change after two African-African men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, were killed by police in separate incidents this week (begs04Jul16).

However, Nick took his outrage one step further by taking to the streets and protesting against police brutality with the Black Lives Matter message.

He shared pictures from the demonstration, which feature him using a megaphone and wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the words "I can't breathe", a quote which relates to the death of African-American Eric Garner, who died in 2014 after being placed in a chokehold by a police officer.

Across the captions, Nick wrote, "Me and my Squad out here taking our streets back!! @hawk.newsome and my team shutting NY down for #altonsterling #philandocastile and all injustice✊
