Modern Family and Hot In Cleveland win at GLAAD Awards
TV hits Modern Family and Hot In Cleveland were among the big winners at the 23rd annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday night (21Apr12).
The ceremony, which honors individuals and projects which promote equality, saw Jesse Tyler Ferguson pick up Modern Family's award for Outstanding Comedy Series, while the Outstanding Individual Episode was shared by Drop Dead Diva and Hot in Cleveland.
Other winners included Cher's transgender son Chaz Bono, who picked
up the Outstanding Documentary prize for his film Becoming Chaz, as
well as the special Stephen F. Kolzak Award.
Bono was also treated to a surprise appearance from his pop star
mother, who told fans about the show in a post on her Twitter.com
page.
She wrote, "So much fun at Glaad awards!I I really surprised Chaz!
He was adorable, said 'Wow mom I was so surprised I forgot what I
was going 2 (sic) say!'"
Ewan McGregor's 2010 movie Beginners was named Outstanding Film and
The Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson was presented with the
Vanguard Award by officials at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against
Defamation (GLAAD) for his support of equal rights issues.
The show was hosted by Ellen DeGeneres and included a performance
by Jason Mraz.
