Mitch Winehouse returning charity clinic money

Written by . Published: August 20 2011

Amy Winehouse's father has been forced to return donations intended for a rehabilitation clinic in honor of the late star after opportunists rushed to register the name of the proposed center.

Mitch Winehouse announced last month (Jul11) he wants to set up The Amy Winehouse Foundation to help young Brits struggling with drink and drug addictions.

He's since had to delay his plans because the name has already been registered as an official company - and he's fuming because many cheques sent to him by well-wishers cannot be banked as a result.

In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, Mitch Winehouse writes, "We all have to bombard the tabloids websites to put pressure on this d**k head who stole our foundation name.

"Instead of concentrating on allocating funding I am having to send cheques back cos (because) we haven't got (a) bank ac (account) in that name.

"Our solicitors are all over this, but it takes time. Meanwhile we can't get on with (the) foundation."

Amy Winehouse was found dead at her home in London on 23 July (11). An inquest into the tragedy is due to be held in October (11).
