Mary J. Blige eager to take life story to Broadway
Mary J. Blige has her sights set on taking her life story and music to the Broadway stage.
The No More Drama singer's life has included family struggles and a battle with drugs and alcohol, and Mary thinks her personal tale is the perfect story for a hit musical.
"I definitely want to see the Mary J. Blige story - or just one of
the album cycles - on Broadway," she tells Playbill.com. "To just
have one of those albums, turns or times on Broadway would be
crazy."
Mary, who has 11 studio albums under her belt, is already one step
closer to the Great White Way with her upcoming stint in the live
TV version of musical The Wiz. She will play Evillene, the Wicked
Witch of the West in the show, which will air on 3 December
(15).
Producers of the telecast are hoping to transfer the production to
Broadway for the 2016-2017 season.
