Mark Ronson: 'Lady Gaga's surprise set didn't quite happen'
Lady Gaga was hoping to perform with Mark Ronson at Britain's Glastonbury Festival but she didn't have the time.
The Poker Face singer was rumored to be teaming up with Mark for a surprise appearance at the music event this weekend (25-26Jun16) after she was reportedly spotted on the Worthy Farm site.
The Uptown Funk producer has now confirmed they had been planning
for her to play with him and Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker, but
they couldn't fit it into her schedule, as she is due to attend an
event with the Dalai Lama on Sunday (26Jun16).
“She was going to come but she had to go and meet the Dalai Lama or
something crazy," Mark tells Britain's Sun on Sunday newspaper.
"She was close to coming and hanging out in Shangri-La but it
didn’t quite happen.”
Gaga, who last played Glastonbury in 2009, is due to appear with
the spiritual leader for an onstage conversation at the Conference
of Mayors annual meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She touched down in the city on Saturday (25Jun16) and wrote on
Twitter, "As I prepare to meet His Holiness, the @DalaiLama I
envision tomorrow--Where there is no work more important than the
work of love.
"Landed in Indianapolis to meet @DalaiLama I'm grateful. Imagine if
we all knew that level of kindness was in the distance before we
met."
Lady Gaga's surprise appearance hasn't been the only Glastonbury
rumor - it was reported that Rihanna will be performing with
Coldplay as a special guest on Sunday night after Bee Gees star
Barry Gibb reportedly had to pull out because his mother Barbara
fell ill
However, according to the newspaper, Barry will make his appearance
after all as Barbara's health has improved. They are set to perform
a three-song megamix of Barry's greatest hits.
