Little Mix 'hit rock bottom' with third album

Little Mix member Jesy Nelson admits the band "cried so much" over their "horrid" third album.

Singers in the British pop group, which is comprised of Jesy, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, absolutely hated their latest record, Get Weird, and they were tortured by the recording process.

“We got stuck in a rut," Jesy explains in the new issue of the U.K.'s Cosmopolitan magazine. "The album wasn’t good enough. It took us a year, locked in a tiny studio, to write it. It was horrid. We cried so much."

It seemed like nearly every attempt the girls made to enhance the quality of their songs fell short and morale was low.

“There was one song we wrote seven different choruses for and it still wasn’t right," Jesy recalls. "Leigh-Anne is the most positive person in the group and even she was getting down. We hit rock bottom."

Despite the difficulties that arose while they were penning songs for the album, Get Weird received generally positive reviews from critics when it was released in November 2015 and the record also peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart.

To celebrate the fact the long, drawn out process of recording and releasing Get Weird is over, the girls are planning to hit the town.

“I’m going to go out and have a drink," Perrie shares. “I’ll be awake late with Leigh-Anne this time round. Times have changed. Rewind to four or five years ago and I’d have been like, ‘No, we don’t really party’. Now I’m like, ‘Yeah!’”
