Liam Hemsworth: 'Past Miley Cyrus break-up had to happen'
Liam Hemsworth is convinced his previous split from on/off girlfriend Miley Cyrus was "what needed to happen" because they were both too young for marriage.
The Hunger Games star met and fell in love with Miley on the set of 2010's The Last Song, and they became engaged in June, 2012.
The relationship didn't last and they called off the engagement in
2013, but despite their young ages, Liam insists he knew it was
right for them to be together.
"I guess when I feel something, then I just feel it and I go for
it," he tells GQ Australia. "I make my decisions about what's going
to make me happy, what I think is right and what I want to do - and
I don't worry too much outside of that."
Liam admits splitting from the Wrecking Ball hitmaker was difficult
for the both of them, but the time apart was necessary.
"Of course it was hard, man," he continues. "But at the time we
were going in different directions and it's just what needed to
happen. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the
time - we both needed that."
The couple rekindled its relationship late last year (15), and now
the stars are back together, they have decided to keep their
romance as low key as possible, although Liam accepts their fans
will always know what's up.
"People will figure it out, they already have..." he adds. "They're
not dumb."
Liam has previously spoken about becoming more private to help keep
the peace at home.
"I just find it's easier to not talk about my personal life because
usually I say the wrong thing, so it ends up just complicating
things more," he told Entertainment Tonight earlier this month
(May16). "So, I feel like it's better not to talk about it."
