Lauren Jauregui misses Brazil gig after airport drug drama
Fifth Harmony star Lauren Jauregui was a no-show at the band's festival gig in Brazil on Wednesday (14Dec16), hours after she was cited for drug possession at an airport in Virginia.
The singer was on her way to South America to perform at the Vevo Brasil Fun Pop Festival when customs officials at Dulles International Airport spotted a small bag of marijuana in her carry on luggage.
Initial reports suggested Lauren had been arrested, but her
attorney subsequently cleared up the claims, insisting she was not
taken into custody.
"(Lauren was) simply given a citation for possession of marijuana
and released on her own recognizance," read a statement issued to
TMZ.com on Wednesday morning. "This will not interfere with any
future scheduled performances or activities."
But it appears the 20-year-old never made it to the gig.
Lauren has yet to comment on her citation or the airport drug
drama, and it is not clear why she missed the show in Brazil.
Her bandmates Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane Hansen, and
Normani Kordei hit the red carpet as a quartet and performed
without the troubled star.
