Lady Gaga: 'My dad cried when I passed my driving test'

Lady Gaga's father cried when she got her driving license.

The singer appeared on James Corden's much-loved Carpool Karaoke segment on Tuesday night (25Oct16), and was one of the first ever celebrities to sit behind the wheel after being challenged to do so by the host.

However, asked about the moment she passed her test earlier this year (16), Gaga admitted her family had some humiliating reactions when she got the good news.

"It was so embarrassing - my whole family came with me to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles)," she laughed. "My father cried when I got my driving license. I was like, ‘Dad, I’m 30!' And he was like (crying), ‘I’m just so proud of you.'"

Asked if she's a good driver, Gaga replied: "I think so, I’m alright."

James then asked her to get behind the wheel, but quickly realized his mistake when the singer started using the windscreen wipers instead of putting the car in gear.

As the journey progressed, James reached back and got a crash helmet to wear, admitting: "I just don’t even know if I feel safe in this environment!"

As is the norm with Carpool Karaoke, James and Gaga belted out a string of the singer's hits, including Bad Romance, Poker Face and Born This Way.

The host also asked his guest about rumors that she has been hoarding items from the late Michael Jackson's wardrobe.

"I must have at least 400 pieces," Gaga admitted. "I’ve got a Thriller jacket, one of his gloves, lots of his tour costumes."

When James asked her if "they smell", the singer answered: "No, they are kept in pristine condition and I keep them in a temperature-controlled room so they can be preserved for the rest of time."

Other subjects broached during the drive included Gaga's upcoming performance at next year's Super Bowl, which she said she was feeling "pretty good" about, as well as her eccentric fashion choices.

As James sported some of Gaga's most famous ensembles, including the infamous meat dress she wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, the singer explained: "I guess that with me I just never really worry about who likes it or who doesn’t like it - the point is to be unfashionable."

She also revealed her favorite ever look was the Alexander McQueen dress she wore to the same VMAs earlier in the evening.

The pair concluded their journey by belting out Gaga's new song A Million Reasons while wearing pink stetson hats.
