Kylie Minogue's bad mood inspired Pharrell Williams song
Kylie Minogue has revealed a bad mood almost blew her chances of working with Happy hitmaker Pharrell Williams.
The Spinning Around singer scored studio time with the sought-after producer while working on her new album Kiss Me Once.
Despite her excitement, the Australian pop star was in a fragile
state on the day of meeting Williams, almost cancelling their
session and breaking down in tears when she finally arrived.
However, the meeting worked out well as Minogue's grumpy mood
inspired Williams to write a song.
In an interview on U.K. radio station Capital FM, Minogue says, "It
was a dream come true because I've wanted to work with him for a
long time. I had two days with him, and we did two songs, one of
which is on my album and it's called I Was Gonna Cancel.
"Because I was having the worst day, you know... when you're having
one of those days. Everything was too much!
"So my second day going in I was literally talking to myself
saying, 'Keep it together, this is a very important day, it's
Pharrell'...
"And then I burst into tears as soon as I got there. That's why he
wrote I Was Gonna Cancel because I really didn't feel like going,
but I kind of had to go."
Spanish superstar Enrique Iglesias has also written a song for the
record, which is due out in March (14).
