Keira Knightley's husband failed to teach her to play guitar

Keira Knightley failed to master the art of playing guitar for a new film despite hours of lessons from her musician husband James Righton.

The British actress plays a struggling singer in the upcoming romantic drama and had to learn how to play the guitar for several key scenes.

Knightley has now revealed her partner, Klaxons star Righton, tried to teach her, but she failed to master the instrument.

She tells People.com, "He helped me try to learn the guitar, and I don't think he'll ever do that again. I'm terrible, and he may have found it too stressful... My fingers looked awful. They were callused (sic) and looked disgusting. I stopped playing and tried going back to it, but my fingers hurt too much, so I'm not going to do it again. I'll let him do all the playing."
