Rupert Grint battling nerves ahead of stage debut
Rupert Grint is battling crippling nerves as he prepares to make his West End debut, branding the work "scary" and "challenging".
The Harry Potter star will appear in gritty play Mojo opposite Skyfall's Ben Whishaw and Downton Abbey actor Brendan Coyle, and he is busy with rehearsals ahead of opening night next month (Oct13).
However, Grint admits he finds the project terrifying, telling the
London Evening Standard, "There are going to be expectations at my
first stab at it. I'm trying not to think about it too much. It is
something that really scares me. But part of it is I want to do
something that scares me a little bit. It's quite good to challenge
yourself now and again."
Grint insists seeing his Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe enjoy
success both in the West End and on Broadway inspired him to take
up the job, adding, "Dan has always said it's a great thing to do
and he absolutely loves it. Just watching him enjoy it told me it
must be quite fun."
