Katy Perry binges on British meals
Katy Perry has fallen in love with traditional British food on her current tour of the U.K., bingeing on snacks including baked beans and meat pies.
The I Kissed a Girl hitmaker told earlier this year (11) of her fondness for tinned beans in tomato sauce, which are usually eaten on toast or as part of a cooked breakfast.
She admitted she couldn't wait to get back to the U.K. to satisfy
her cravings for the savoury snack, but now it's emerged she's been
trying out a range of other British dishes on the road - and she
loves them all.
The singer, who is married to British funnyman Russell Brand,
headed to an eaterie in Sheffield, England with her entourage
earlier this week (beg10Oct11) and enjoyed a locally-produced meat
pie with Yorkshire puddings - cooked batter cylinders usually eaten
with roast beef.
The restaurant's owner, Justin Rowntree, tells the Sheffield Star
newspaper, "She tucked into a meal. We first introduced her to
Yorkshire pudding. She thought it was funny that we ate puddings as
starters but once she got her head around it Katy loved it.
"Then she had a Whirlow Hall Farm meat pie and Henderson's Relish
gravy which she devoured."
Perry also told her fans on Twitter.com of her feasts - in a series
of posts, she writes, "FINALLY! Beloved ENGLAND! 1st thing I did
was stuff me gob (my mouth) w/some yorkshire puddings & meat pies
from Silversmiths in Sheffield. Ah bless... See you soon... if I
can stop eating these yorkshires."
And later, she added, "Yes, proper beans on toast... I've missed
you."
