Justin Bieber competes against ice hockey professionals in Manchester
Justin Bieber tested his ice hockey skills against professionals during a match in Manchester, England on Tuesday evening (25Oct16).
The Sorry singer, a keen ice hockey player, spent a night off from his Purpose World Tour to join the professionals at Manchester Storm for a friendly game, and the teammates shared a picture of Justin wearing their jersey and posing for a group shot on the ice.
"Surprise late night visit this evening at the @Mcr_Storm! Thanks
for joining us @justinbieber! #WeAreStorm," they tweeted. They
later added, "So,people are asking just how good @justinbieber is
at hockey after his appearance with the @Mcr_Storm? He's good."
They also posted footage of Justin scoring a goal and celebrating
by spinning his arm around in a windmill motion and bending down on
one knee, so one leg slides along the floor.
Manchester Storm general manager Neil Russell told the Manchester
Evening News he had invited Justin to come and play, but he wasn't
sure it would ever happen because the Canadian singer had canceled
on three occasions.
"I sent him an email a few weeks ago and heard nothing back,"
Russell said. "Then I got a call on Monday saying he would be very
keen to meet up with the team for a skate.
"He canceled on us three times but then they got in touch tonight
and said, 'I'm on my way'. So I got the team together and we were
all skating with him for a good hour or so... He's a really good
skater."
He added the 22-year-old had even joined them at the pub after the
match with his two minders, and continued his night by heading to
the club Tiger Tiger for student night Taboo Tuesdays.
As he was heading to the ice rink, Justin and his convoy of cars
were reportedly caught on video driving dangerously and on the
wrong side of the road near oncoming traffic. A spokeswoman for
Cheshire Police told MailOnline they were keen to speak to
witnesses and whoever posted the footage on social media.
Justin's ice hockey outing took place two days after he performed
at Manchester Arena, where he stormed off stage when fans wouldn't
stop screaming as he tried to talk. He returned two minutes later
and declared he wouldn't be speaking in between songs for the rest
of the night.
He is next due to perform in Sheffield, England on Wednesday night
(26Oct16).
