Geldof accused of shoplifting
British socialite Peaches Geldof was accused of shoplifting make-up from a London store on Friday (21Oct11), according to a U.K. report.
Bob Geldof's daughter was allegedly apprehended by an undercover store detective at a branch of Boots chemist in central London, but staff decided against making a report to police, according to Britain's Sunday Mirror.
A customer who claims to have witnessed the alleged incident, tells
the publication, "When she left... a store detective followed her
outside and brought her back in. I heard him say, 'Do you know why
I've brought you back?' I didn't hear her response but she was
completely cool... He took her into a back office and five minutes
later she came out and left the store, calm as you like again."
A staff member adds, "Peaches Geldof was caught by an undercover
detective with around £60 worth of make-up... She was calm when
she was caught and wasn't arrested as she handed the stash over. We
filled in a recovery note and she has been banned from the store.
She wrote down her address and we rang a number to confirm it... We
let her go."
A Boots spokesman says, "We cannot comment on individual customer
circumstances."
The publication reports Geldof refused to comment on the
allegations.
