Eva Longoria's clothing collection heading to New York Fashion Week
Eva Longoria is set to make her New York Fashion Week debut as a fashion designer next month (Sep17).
The Desperate Housewives star's Eva Longoria Collection will hit the runway on 13 September (17) as part of Kia STYLE360's show. Rosario Dawson, Orange is the New Black actress Alysia Reiner, and reality star Vanessa Simmons will also be part of the show, which will be streamed live and feature 360-degree virtual reality broadcasts, according to WWD.com.
Longoria first entered the fashion world with a collection designed for U.S. retailer The Limited last summer (16), and she admitted the gig was a dream come true.
''People keep asking me why it's taken me so long to do a clothing line, because I've been wanting to do it forever,'' she told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. ''I was offered a lot of different deals - it was basically to just put your name on something. But I wanted to be part of the process. I wanted to design, I wanted to help in the sourcing, I wanted to be involved in buying the artwork (for prints and graphics), everything. And to do that, it is its own full-time job.''
However, the company went bankrupt and shuttered its stores at the start of 2017, prompting the beauty to begin selling her pieces online.
"What's different now is this is all e-commerce, which is the trend fashion is going towards right now," she explained to PeopleStyle earlier this year (17).
And Eva still gets a thrill from seeing real women wear her designs: "I was at a Starbucks in San Antonio and the woman in front of me had my top on," she smiled. "I was like, 'Oh my god! That's my top!' And she was like, 'It's my top.' And I'm like, 'No, no, I am sure you bought it. I am just saying I designed it.' It's so crazy."
